This Korda 'riding guard' from the Thief of Bagdad is gold plated base metal. This item was inspired by the guards on horseback who, in the film, make their way through the crowd, for the princess' arrival. This is typical fine work by Hobe. The leaves and bow are layered. The roses go a step further by having individual petals wrap to form a circle just as real roses do. The semi-triangular plaque with the rectangular bottom marked Hobe, sterling, 1/20 14k, indicates that this brooch is lovely older Hobe dating between 1918 and 1932. 3" long.1 1/2" wide. 1/2" deep.
