This Scottish blood stone, brass & cairngorn brooch is 1 3/4" in diameter. The brass fillagree base is very similar to Miriam Haskell backs. There are for round blood stone disks measuring 3/8" in diameter and 4 diamond shaped.

Blood stone is Plasma with red sports of iron oxide. Plasma is dark green, opaque chalcedonly quartz with the color coming from the chlorite.

Large and glamorous, the color combination of rich purple and deep blue cabochons accentuated by tiny pearls makes for a stunning necklace. A scarce deep navy blue Bakelite two piece leaf-form belt buckle 1920s-30s. This buckle consists of two 1-7/8" x 1-5/8" dark blue Bakelite segments, both deeply carved with a star and wavy border. Navy blue Bakelite is one of the least commonly seen colours in single coloured period Bakelite items. Renoir of California had an affinity for primitive art, and the design of this bracelet is a good example of that inspiration. Part of the company’s Matisse line of enameled jewelry, this bracelet features oblong copper panels of two lengths decorated with blue enamel with white specks. The fold-over clasp is marked ‘Matisse’ on the top. There are some minor edge chips in the enamel on the back. It measures about 7 inches long by 1 1/4 inches at its widest point.
