Gift HIS LORDSHIP, Captain of his Ship, with this vintage pair of sterling silver and black enamel toggle back cuff links. Centered in a black enamel base is a silver boat bordered with a twisted rope design frame, Circa 1960, marked on back HIS LORDSHIP and Sterling, PAT no. Size: 1" x 3/4"; Condition is like new.

These cuff links are composed of forged-wire bands that have been hand-formed into pinwheel shapes and anchor bars with curled ends. The anchor bars are marked sterling and are secured to the buttons with a soldered figure-eight link; the cuff links exhibit tool marks from working the silver. They are probably from the 1950s. The pinwheels measure about 11/16 inch across; the anchor bars measure 1 inch long. Weight: 9.7 grams total

Composed of oblong and rounded sides decorated with Middle Eastern-style motifs of embedded silver vines, leaves and stars. The cuff links are unmarked, but test definitively for silver. The bridge chains are securely fastened and composed of figure 8-like links; the wood and silver decoration exhibit no cracks or other signs of wear. The rounded sides measure just under ½ inch diameter. They are dated conservatively at around 1960.

Decorated with circular engraved centers and white enamel Greek key borders. The bridge bars and connecting rings are in excellent condition. There are tiny spots of tarnish, especially around the embedded enamel. Marked sterling on the reverse; each button measures about ½ inch across. Weight: 5.9 grams total

This pair of nicely molded cuff links feature bold ray-like ridges on the oval sides and vertical ridges on the narrow sides, all enhanced with dark oxidation. Very nice Victorian sterling silver doubled-faced cufflinks decorated with Classical medallions in the Shiebler style. The medallions depict are Greek in style and depict and adult man and a youth in profile. The backgrounds are stippled and the edges are beveled and irregularly shaped to suggest antiquity. A handsome pair of Georg Jensen silver cufflinks in pattern #5. This was an early cufflink design be Jensen and was made with and without a gemstone in the center opening. The round faces are connected by chains to foliate torpedo backs. The cufflinks retain an old patina. The backs of the faces are stamped with the combination of Jensen and assay marks used 1915-30 and with the pattern number “5” and “Kopenhagen”.

A wonderful pair of Modernist sterling silver cufflinks from Taxco, the center of Mexican silver jewelry production in the 20th century. The design is strongly geometric, but has an organic quality as well--almost like a leaf shape. The interiors are nicely oxidized to contrast with the appliqued silver spheres. The backs are hallmarked with the "3M" mark attributed to Miguel Melendez' output from the late 1950s and early 1960s...

These 1960s cuff links are formed as square buttons, with diagonal scores enhanced by oxidation. They are hollow, but have a substantial feel and a nice heft. The larger buttons are marked Taxco; there is no sterling mark but all of the buttons test as sterling silver. A handsome pair of sterling silver cufflinks by Georg Jensen. The rectangular faces are severely designed in the Art Deco style, with only a series of parallel raised bands as decoration. The solid connectors are attached to hinged oval backs. The cufflinks are marked with the pattern number 80 and bear post-1945 Jensen hallmarks.

Set with a polished black and white stone, this mid-century tie bar is sturdily made and works nicely as a money clip. The stone is secured by zig-zagged wires. The bar is marked sterling, and measures 1 ¼ inches long, including the stone; the bar is 3/16 inch wide. Gross weight: 4.2 grams

These cuff links exhibit both a sturdy look and construction. They were probably produced for the tourist trade by different silversmiths in the same workshop, as each is slightly different from the other, mostly in the fins. The backs of one linked pair indicates the maker M. Velazquez; all are marked Sterling/Made in Mexico in the pre-1950s style. The back rings connect to short bridge chains; one rings is slightly bent but there is no damage or metal stress...

Here are a pair of late 19th-century oval cuff buttons decorated with horseshoes of inlaid dyed black onyx. They are probably American; the round backs show a sterling mark and possible maker’s mark for Ludwig, Redlich & Co. of New York. The surface exhibits the warm patina of considerable age, but the inlay shows no loss. The backs are well soldered and secure. Each oval button measures about ¾ inch long by ½ inch wide. Weight: 5.2 grams total

A classic design of engine-turned engraving on both sides. The cuff links are in nearly unused condition; there are areas of tarnish, which should be cleaned only with a polishing cloth (an applied polish could remove the gilding). The bridge bars and hinges are secure, and there is no sign of metal stress. These Mexican cuff links are unmarked but their design featuring a Precolumbian-style figure indicates their origin. They are also marked 980 on the backs of one side, a silver content consistent with Mexican jewelry. They are likely from the 1930s to 1950. The larger button measures ¾ inch in diameter. A fascinating pair of double-sided Continental silver cufflinks, each face featuring the image of Medusa. The faces are intended to suggest ancient coins, but the stylized lines are very much in the Cubist style. Though her appearance was capable of turning a man to stone, Medusa's image was often used to ward off evil spirits. The backs are stamped with French import marks.

Reminiscent of machine-age design, these mid-century silver cuff links are composed of applied semi-circular bars spanning the width of a flat, rectangular bar. Here is a pair of late 19th-century two-sided cuff links, by a preeminent American maker, decorated with scrolling and undecorated reserves on the oval buttons. All links and connectors are secure; the bridge bars are marked sterling and bear the mark of Larter and Sons, Newark, NJ. A good pair of pre-War Mexican silver cufflinks in a traditional strapwork motif. The square faces are joined to spherical backs. The surface retains an attractive old patina. One cufflink is marked “Sterling Taxco”, thus pre-dating the eagle system of marks introduced in 1948.

Elaborate wirework is the defining feature of these distinctive cuff links, which are unmarked but test as silver. They are gilded, including the wirework, and are enhanced with maroon enamel.
