A substantial and heavily oxidized sterling bracelet by Jose Luis Flores. An apprentice of Spratling, Flores also worked in the ateliers of Hector Aguiar,Miguel Martinez and Emma Melendez. Signed Miguel in script, Taxco,Sterling JLF along with a slightly obliterated number. There are faint scratches. The bracelet measures 7-1/4 x 1-3/8 and weighs 80.7gr.

Composed of curved openwork panels formed as highly stylized bird heads, possibly eagles, with a pre-Columbian influence. The tongue-and-groove clasp is original and very secure for this substantial bracelet. It is bears the circular mark for Pedro Castillo, who worked for Spratling and Aguilar in the 1930s and started his own taller in the 1940s (per Bille Hougart’s ‘Little Book’ of Mexican silver marks, p. 41)...

Large sterling and copper martini stir/spoon by Los Castillo, Mexico, c.1948. Hand wrought and made of heavy gauge silver, it weighs 2 1/2 troy ounces and measures 15 INCHES LONG. Design has wrapped copper braid at top and large hand hammered spoon(measures 2 1/8" by 1 5/8"). Signed "LOS CASTILLO TAXCO HANDWROUGHT (bellmark)15" and is in excellent condition. A classic Mexican Deco design the "caviar" can be found in all forms, in all gauges of sterling, with or without stones, signed by as famous a name as Spratling or simply anonymous like the sweet version of it I am presenting here. There is a heart-warming sense of intimacy about "caviar" jewelry...

This double-hinged bangle, a mid-century design by Sigfredo Pineda, features a central oval amethyst cabochon, framed in sterling silver and highly polished. It is surrounded by two sets of slender sterling silver bands enclosing it like fingers. The bracelets band is in three sections, with a soft patina from age, and the two hinge pins are very secure. The push-down clasp is in good working order, and there is a long, delicate safety chain attached by soldered rings...

A vintage modernist sterling silver bracelet by Taxco artisan, Erika Hult de Corral in a stylized chevron design. Marked Ric, Taxco SA, Hecho en Mexico, and 925. Also has style number 40.

Measures 6 1/4" around the inside and 2 3/4" long at the front. Better for a smaller wrist although I think it was made to stay in place and not spin around. Clasp snaps securely. There is a safety catch for extra security.

Has some minor surface scratches and a little tarnish...

A vintage modernist pair of sterling silver earrings by Antonio Pineda, Taxco with dangling hoops.

Measure 1/2" at the widest and 2" high. One earring is marked with the Antonio crown, 970 and an Eagle mark. The second earring is marked Hecho en Mexico. Clips hold securely. These earrings have some dings to the edges, surface scratches and some tarnish.

Dating in the 1940s, this massive sterling silver and azur-malachite "mozaico Azteca" inlay pendant necklace is signed by Taxco maestro Jose Anton. I am more used to Anton's repousse work yet from time to time, I do come across some examples that feature overlay and, as in this case, stone inlay. What impresses me here is, of course, the generously sized pendant with its "warrior" silver inlay in profile as well as the detail of the eagle figure floating in the air next to it...

From his third design period, this design is shown on the Spratling Silver website. Described as "round urns with three feet of silver and obsidian". These are collector quality, and this design is very seldom seen. They are very comfortable to wear, have beautiful movement, and look fabulous on. Measures 1 3/8" tall with a width of 11/16". Weight is 16.6 grams. Signed and hallmarked with the WS Script Square "WS William Spratling .925 Taxco Mexico" and the eagle assay 30...
