Vintage pearl and sterling silver bracelet designed and signed circa 1950's by Taxco, Mexico modernist artist Antonio Pineda. Bracelet measures 6 1/4" long X 5/8" wide. Hallmarked with Antonio crown, Taxco, 970 and eagle. The design features 11 pearls each set within a round oxidized silver cup. Each cup framed by a thick silver square. Early Mexico City open backed repousse cuff looks so fabulous without being embossed around the background of the roses because it makes the repousse really pop. This is a 1 10/16th in. wide and the diameter is 2.5in. There are no repairs, no dents and no light holes that come from poorly pressed silver. The roses are brisk and superbly dimensional. This is "The Armadillo" cuff. (The necklace is no longer available). It was designed circa 1945-50 by Valentin Vidaurreta and made by master silversmith Manuel Altamirano who worked for Valentin and also for Hector Aguilar. It is featured on page 198 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Penny C. Morrill. The cuff is 5 1/2" around in the inside plus a 1 1/2" opening.
