Large original signed bronze sculpture on wood base by Irma Rothstein (American, born in Russia, 1906-1971). Almost 20" high including base. In excellent original condition. Irma Rothstein was born in Rostoff, Russia, and studied art in Vienna before emigrating to the United States in 1938. She sculpted the busts of celebrities such as George Bernard Shaw, Hermann Broch, Alexandre Gretchaninoff, Ernest Hemingway, etc...

A Chinese export carved dragon frame with miniature portrait, late 19th century period. Of scalloped oval form carved in deep relief with four dragons. Containing a hand-painted portrait of a young beauty. Overall height of item is 6 inches with length of 5 inches, measurements of portrait is 3.5 x 2.75 inches. Condition Report; Miniature portrait in good condition, frame sustain a couple of age cracks.

Original painting/calligraphy by Jacques Le Roux (French, 1923-2010), on antique paper, possibly influenced by Mayan iconography. A nice watercolor portrait of a young man, probably in his mid-teens, signed, “Elinor M. Barnard/1933.” The young man with brown hair and eyes wearing an open necked white shirt leans into the picture plane with a sense of youthful eagerness. Elinor Barnard (1872-1942) was born and studied in the UK, but worked mostly in the USA, principally New York City. She has a relaxed and economical style. Sight size 16 3/8 by 12 ¼ inches. A large engraving of a mythological scene of Venus after her bath getting ready for a date with Adonis. The print was made by Etienne Baudet the French engraver who also worked in Rome. It is dated 1672. The print is after one of a series of 4 paintings by Francesco Albani that were commissioned by the Duke of Mantua in 1621. An oil on Masonite painting of a red roofed mill with the mill pond in the foreground and a barn against a hill in the distance. Painted in an unusual palette that includes lavender. I have been unable to find a listing for the artist. In a new frame. 10 by 12 inches, with frame 12.5 by 14.5 inches.

Condition: excellent.

Though it is difficult to date, I suspect it is from the middle of the 20th century and most likely to be American.
