This is a large drawing in what I believe to be charcoal and color pencil or chalk, 24" by 18" inside the mat, (no glass), 30 1/2" by 24 1/2" as framed, titled at bottom right "Study of Ripple", and signed there by the artist, well-known New Mexico painter WALT GONSKE (1942-)...

A watercolor and gouache painting of a creek lined by mature white birch trees, 14 1/2" by 21 1/2" in its thin strip frame, the work signed at lower left "A. ABRAMS". The eastern artist Raphael Senseman of New Jersey painted in much this same style, so much so that one is tempted to think that "A. Abrams" could be a pen name. The watercolor is fresh and in excellent condition.

Oil on canvas, 18 1/4" by 27 1/2" plus 3 1/2" wood frame, signed at lower right by the artist in Cyrillic and dated "51". This is a work of Russian impressionist LEONID BORISOVICH IANOUSH (1897-1978). His name has been spelled also as "Yanush". This is a finely executed work. Fine 20th century art of the Middle East is now selling at auction in specialized sales in Dubai for large sums of money. The present work does not appear to be by an artist, AL-HILALI, who is listed at the present time; however I feel the quality of the work suggests that as the market for modern Islamic art develops, the artist will be properly recognized. This oil on canvas measures 23 1/4" by 39", and is in a narrow period frame, with an intentional gap between stretcher and frame...

This is a **PAIR** of unframed paintings in acrylic on Masonite (one appears to be on a thin, gauzy type of canvas laid on masonite), one 18" by 24", one 24" by 12" by noted Northern California artist TED CHRISTENSEN (1911-1998). Neither is signed on the front but they are typical of the subject matter and technique of the artist. Both are inscribed on the back; one says "#89-1 TED CHRISTENSEN/ACRYLIC - 12" x 24"; the other says "9002 -GOLDEN GATE/TED CHRISTENSEN/ACRYLIC 18" by 24"...

This is a really poetic work by FRANCIS LE COADIC (1912-), listed French artist, showing a country church and houses, a few figures, and a distinctively French telephone pole at the right side of the composition. The work, like a lot of Le Coadic's work, reminds one of Maurice Utrillo. Indeed, Le Coadic did paint a lot of works showing Montmartre in the snow, and other street scenes around Paris. He seems to be little known, and underrated; there are some auction records, but not many...

For the collector of fine modern and surrealist art, this is a pencil signed etching on Arches Vellum paper, titled "Code of Faces V" or "Visages V", or "Quatre Visages" created in 1962 by noted Romanian French Jewish artist VICTOR BRAUNER (1902-1966). There was a series of etchings by the artist that year, all variations of this same theme. Measurements are 19 1/4" by 14 1/2" inside the mat, (27" by 21 3/4" as framed). The total edition was 60 impressions, and this is number 47...

Offered together are **THREE** identically framed drawings on paper, one 9" by 9", the second 11" by 9 1/2", the third 11 1/2" by 9" (all identical frame sizes, 19" by 17"), not apparently signed on the paper itself, though I have not opened these up to see inside, but bearing plaques "E. PASCUAL MONTURIOL" and each bearing an old rubber stamp on the reverse framing paper proclaiming "This painting is guaranteed as original by Parker-Edwards Gallery"...

Oil on canvas painting of trees in a tawny dry landscape, 12" by 20" and 1" wide old wood frame, signed at lower left by artist S. J. TUJAGUE. At first I had difficulty reading the signature but some net research showed this to be by an artist apparently at least originally hailing from Louisiana, there being a number of pieces, some still life works, having been auctioned in New Orleans. A famous restaurant in that city goes by this name...

Watercolor on paper river fantasy scene set in the tropics, 10 1/2" by 22" and 3" wide circa early 20th century frame in very good condition, signed at lower right "W W COWELL" and dated 18(last two digits not easily discernible, possibly "189_" or could be "1879"). This is one of the rare works of painter WILLIAM WILSON COWELL (1819-1898), primarily an east coast artist who also was known to paint in the Great Lakes area, and, late in life, in Nova Scotia, Canada...
