Jacques Gabriel was born in Port-au-Prince in 1934 and died in 1988. He joined the Foyer des Arts Plastiques in 1954. Alex Jeanty successfully taught him in watercolors, Néhémy Jean in designing, and Dieudonné Cédor and Dorcely in oils. He has exhibited in Europe and Haiti. His art is mentioned in many Haitian art books. "Gabriel's rigor and clear colors contrast with his strong, colorful personality," says Gerald Alexis in his book Peintres Haitiens

The title in kanji is at the bottom left margin. Paper: 11 5/8" x 10 1/4" (image: 6 3/8" x 8"). Very good overall condition with a possible faintly visible smudge in the upper left margin corner. There are a few distressed fibers on the back, but the print does not appear to have been previously framed.
