From our Southeast Asia Collection, a fine original Burmese watercolor of a solitary young monk at prayer. From memory we think the scene depicts one of the many alcoves at the massive Ananda Temple complex in Pagan, though in all candor we cannot be entirely certain. In any event, it is a stirring and highly evocative portrayal which in its simplicity, captures a deep and genuine sense of reverence and serenity...

Oil on canvas painting of the famous Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy, signed at lower right with a signature that looks like Gianni XXXX, and dated there 2000, the piece measuring 17" by 23" in green framing. A contemporary oil on canvas scene featuring a small bridge over a Venice, Italy canal; this may be the famous Ponte delle Tette bridge. The work measures 11 1/2" by 13 1/2" as framed. I do not see a signature. The painting and frame are in excellent condition.
A contemporary watercolor painting of a flowering shrub, unsigned, 12" by 18" (20" by 26" in attractive gold frame in good condition), possibly of east coast origin as the framer's sticker is from Boston. This reminds somewhat of mountain laurel, the state flower of Connecticut, but that is pure speculation (mountain laurel is usually more white though there are pink and dark pink varieties). In any event, botanical questions aside, this watercolor is nicely executed and in excellent condition...
