This impression is from the first state of three with the Remarque of a Woman in Profile. The image measures 9 3/4X5 5/8 inches. Hand signed in pencil, printed on a Japon type paper. Numbered as 1/30.

A pleasing watercolor painting of a small sail boat on a lake, trees beyond, painted in an impressionist hand. Unfortunately the talented artist did not sign the work, which is laid down on a card. A portrait miniature, on natural wafer, of a young woman with a mien that might be described as a remembrance of things past. The sitter is wearing a mauve gown, a white fichu, and a tortoiseshell comb in her hair.

  The painting is in a 4 1/2" by 4 1/2" ebonized wood frame with a bronze liner, with a sight size diameter of 2 1/4". Both the frame and the painting are in excellent condition.   

Poem 70-73 Taiwa (Level or peace), 31/106, 17.5”x 24.5”. Haku Maki produced this Big Green print in 1970. His Big prints-—large for him-—appeared mainly in the period 1968-75. This print, the only horizontal one of all his Big prints, depicts the kanji for Level, Peace and the like. I believe it has other meanings. When I first saw this image many years ago but had not seen the bottom margin clearly, I thought it was a stylized rendition of Woman, a very frequent Maki subject...

Circa first third of the 20th century, or maybe earlier, very colorful watercolor on paper of a busy street scene in Napoli (Naples, southern Italy), 22 1/2" by 12 1/2" framed, signed at lower left by artist G. CANO. I count at least 10 figures in the composition, and one burro, complementing the hanging laundry, flowers, and ancient facades.
