A beautiful pencil drawing of human hands, likely 19th century, measuring 4 1/2" by 5 1/2" inside the ornate French mat, 10 1/4" by 11 1/4" as framed in gilt closed corner framing. There is a little wear in the corners of the frame but the overall look with mat and frame is upscale...

A naive ink drawing, possibly by a child, charmingly titled "EXCHANGES", featuring a mounted cowboy on right firing at an Indian with chief's headdress, firing an arrow at the cowboy while crouching behind a protective rock. A cactus at far left and steer skull at right complete the composition. Probably dates to the early to mid 20th century. It is a simple image, but states a message in a rather straightforward manner. Size is 8" by 12" in simple wood framing.

Ink drawing with some pencil outlining visible, subject an idyllic northern lake bordered by tall spruce or pines, a ti-pi with Indian at center left, a canoe plying the waters at center distance, signed at lower left "Leb-Wendell", 7" by 9 3/4", 12 1/2" by 15" as framed. At first I though this an etching but close up inspection reveals it to be actually an ink drawing with fine detail. One can see the pencil outlining and guide lines placed by the artist...

An ink on paper drawing in striking Surrealism style, signed with initials RM at lower left within the imagery by the noted Mexican muralist, painter and illustrator ROBERTO MONTENEGRO (1887-1968). The subject is a Dali style clock face, a skeletal hand pointing, and other strange almost biomorphic shapes completing the imagery. Written in pencil underneath the mat is "Hora Unica" (which I take to mean 1 o'clock, the bony index finger on that numeral on the clock face)...

There are lots of signed prints out there, but few original works, by the hand of famous comedian RED SKELTON (1913-1997), who is said to have said that he made more money from his art than from his entertainment career. This is one of those scarce original works: a pencil drawing of a bird's head---likely a gull, though, possibly a young eagle...

Sepia ink on paper drawing, 5 3/4" by 3 3/4" inside a red mat opening, 11" by 8 1/2" as framed, signed at lower left and dated there 1864, by listed English woman artist SARAH LOUISA KILPACK (1840-1909). This is a sweet, beautiful little drawing by an artist who seems to have created mostly coastal landscapes in oil, especially along the English Channel or around the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey. This would be an early work created when she would have been in only her mid 20's...

Original 16" by 18" ink on paper drawing of two men in slickers in an overloaded canoe in a rainstorm, their faces reacting to the increasing challenges as they are apparently taking on water, signed at lower right by the noted American illustrator HENRY "HY" SUMNER WATSON (1868-1933). The drawing was evidently produced for eventual publication by Outing Publishing Co., as their violet "PAID" stamp dated April 10, 1907 and "Book Department" appears on the reverse...

Fine spontaneous ink drawing on thin paper of man and boy dressed in traditional orthodox Jewish clothing, 7 3/4" by 4 3/4", 13 1/4" by 10 1/4" in narrow gold leaf framing by a quality New York City framer, signed at upper right by the noted Jewish-Ukrainian artist, EMANUEL MANE-KATZ (1894-1962). With some quick strokes of the pen, the master artist has created a fine image that embodies Jewish tradition and culture. The artist was born in the Ukraine near the end of the 19th century. Ink on paper drawing of the narrow streets of an old town likely in eastern Massachusetts, possibly Marblehead, two women chatting casually, the work signed by the artist at lower right and monogrammed and dated in Roman numerals 1896 at left, by the noted American artist and illustrator EDMUND HENRY GARRETT (1853-1929). Garrett was born in Albany, New York at mid century, and died near Boston at the end of the 1920's. His art career appears to have started slowly, with little art education pr...
