Signed pencil drawing of a man, from mid-chest up, signed at lower right somewhat indecipherably---the name looks like "Inda (Linda?) Turtle" but that is likely not the actual name. The piece measures 13 1/4" by 10 1/2" inside the mat and 21 1/2" by 18 1/8" framed. Condition appears to be excellent. Allow for reflections especially at top in some of the images.

This work is guaranteed to be an original pencil drawing, and not a print nor reproduction of any kind. The drawing (15" by 23", 20" by 26 3/4" in simple metal framing) is amazingly detailed, featuring an old time steam boat, the General Slocum, as it might have appeared in New York harbor around the turn of the century. The Brooklyn Bridge towers at right and sailing craft complete the scene at lower right. The artist signed the work at lower left and dated it 1995...

A beautifully executed, sensitive set of five study drawings on one sheet of paper, 8 7/8" by 9" (15 3/4" by 14 1/2" in gold metal frame), the work featuring a lonely-looking donkey, titled at lower left "Alistair", dated Sept. 1984 and signed there by the late Scottish woman artist MARYSIA DONALDSON (died 2018). Donaldson captured beautifully her noble subject, who reminds of lonely Eeyore, in his pasture, in the Christopher Robin/Winnie The Pooh stories...

By noted South African artist, Otto Klar (born in Austria, 1908-1994), this drawing depicts a group of huts, some figures, and hills in the background. In a simple wood frame, it measures 10 3/4" by 12 5/8" (sight size 6" by 8"), and is inscribed on the back, "Christmas South Africa, 1977, Gift from Otto Klar, Dec 2nd". In pencil, on buff colored paper, frame and double matting are clearly original, and the drawing appears to be in excellent condition...

This is a fine pencil drawing of a Victorian style wood home, 16" by 11 1/2" (24 3/4" by 18 3/4" framed), signed at lower right "David" and dated there '73. One is reminded of Edward Hopper's haunted, lonely dune houses or even the infamous back-lot Bates Motel house from the movie "Psycho" where Anthony Perkins did his thing. Condition is excellent. Found in San Francisco, the city where many treasured gingerbread houses of Victorian times still stand.

Fine pencil drawing, possibly illustrator art, of a traditional old doorway in New England or elsewhere in the east, 10 1/2" by 7 1/2" inside the mat, 17" by 13 1/2" framed. There are a few listed artists by this name Don Browne (possibly "Browne"----there might be a fainter version underneath) but I don't believe this to be by one of them, though the work is competently executed. The drawing is in clean, fine condition.

Original pencil figural drawing, 15" by 9" plus a gray mat, unframed, signed at lower right "K. Delaney" and dated there 1979. I do not know who the artist might have been but he or she certainly had a talent as a draftsperson. The condition is generally good save for modest paper browning and there is tape residue on the reverse from clumsy attachment to the mat. Fit a frame on this and you'll have a pleasant, nicely executed drawing.

An original drawing of a standing cowboy, executed on thin tracing-style paper, with estate stamp at lower right of noted Arizona artist CURTIS WINGATE (1926-1982). The drawing, 18" by 9" inside the current mat, is very sketchy, as if perhaps a very preliminary study for a finished watercolor or painting. Wingate was born in Dennison, Texas and spent most of his life in Arizona after moving there from California...

Two finely executed pencil drawings, one titled "Mount Hood", the other of a mounted cowboy rounding up calves, the scene, I have been informed by a distant relative of the artist, being in Big Timber, Montana. The drawings are essentially unframed, currently just protected. Both measure roughly 5" by 7 3/4"; the Oregon scene has an uneven top margin area, and both open up, almost as if they were intended to be greeting cards, but there are no messages inside...

There are lots of signed prints out there, but few original works, by the hand of famous comedian RED SKELTON (1913-1997), who is said to have said that he made more money from his art than from his entertainment career. This is one of those scarce original works: a pencil drawing of a bird's head---likely a gull, though, possibly a young eagle...

By the internationally famous English 20th century fashion photographer, artist, interior/stage/costume designer, tastemaker, and socialite, CECIL BEATON (1904-1980), this is an original pencil drawing of a nude woman, the sheet measuring 12 1/4" by 9 5/8" (16 1/2" by 14 1/2" in contemporary simple light wood frame). The almost expressionistic drawing is unsigned but is estate stamped at lower right, showing its origin as from the estate of Miss Eileen Hose, Mr...

Pencil drawing on heavy paper of a happy chef draped over a chair and holding a lobster and corn or celery, 14 1/2" by 11 1/4", signed at lower right by listed California artist DUVAL ELIOT (1909-1990). Her biography appears in askart and in Hughes' dictionary of California artists. Eliot was Arkansas-born, and was in California as a child. She worked in a number of media, including printmaking, sculpture, and painting...

One of dozens of drawings by this artist that I recently acquired, (ask to see others, not shown in my shop) this is a fine image in soft pencil and ink on paper, the drawing itself 10" by 13 1/2", in a simple frame without mat, signed with initials at right and dated '65, by California and Massachusetts listed artist DAISY MARGUERITE HUGHES (1882-1968). Hughes was born and died in Los Angeles but in between she spent much time in the Provincetown art colony on Cape Cod. Hughes exhibited widely ...
