This one is certainly a challenge to describe----but I will give it a go. A mixed media (watercolor, gouache, pastel and gold metallic paint mix) painting, the subject a fantastic, surreal, dream-like scene including a supine male figure with ants on his chest, leopard-like creature, moth, skulls, green, opportunistic poisonous-looking tropical style snake emerging from a woman's body, and bat hanging upside down! This appears to be a print, with original hand coloring more than likely by the artist, the title "Good things come in small packages, big packages, or whatever shape a friend is in.", signed at lower right in the plate, by noted California contemporary artist SALLY HUSS (1940-). The work, 9 1/2" by 11 1/2" in robin's egg blue painted wood frame, is typical of the artist's output----always colorful in the extreme, and whimsical, the subjects landscape, florals, or fantasy...

Russian late twentieth century lacquer box, 6" by 4" by 1 5/8" high, with signature (I believe) in Russian, and also a title, in Russian, at lower left. It is a great image, with mounted medieval horseman, an orthodox church in the distance, and a figure like Old Man Winter blowing at the horseman. Colors are delicate and pleasing. I have been using this as a trinket holder on my night table...
