The textile with multicolored threads in Red, Blue, etc. possibly from Peru in great condition

A striking mixed media work, featuring the whitewashed architecture and Mediterranean light of the island of Djerba, Tunisia, highlighted by an electric blue paint, signed at lower center, dated 1979. There is also extensive writing in modern Hebrew. Measurements are 22" by 30 3/4" (27 3/4" by 36 1/2" in metal framing). The artist is YGAEL TUMARKIN (1933-2021), a well-known, prolific Israeli artist who works in sculpture and painting. Prices for his works have exceeded $25,000 at auction...

A colorful image of an idyllic tropical beach ringed by coconut palms and bordered by emerald green water, signed at lower right by contemporary San Diego artist Vonda Velasquez. The work, mixed media on heavy paper (gouache and maybe oil?) measures 13 3/4" by 21 1/2" (24" by 31" in matching blue-green frame) and is signed at lower right and the artist's business card is affixed on the backing paper. The work is clean, frame is in good condition.

Drawing in watercolor and pencil of a figure staring out at the viewer, 23" by 18" inside the mat (33" by 26" framed), signed at lower right by noted mid 20th century California artist ROGER KUNTZ (1926-1975). I believe this would be a female figure with short hair. She is drawn skillfully in pencil, and finished out with a gray-green watercolor wash. There is a South Bend, Indiana framer's label that likely dates to the 1960's...

Original signed poster for the Whitney Museum showing of "For Example", a 1972 movie by Shusaku Arakawa (1936-2010), from the Mechanism of Meaning project by Arakawa and Madeline Gins. This framed poster is in excellent framed condition and is signed in pencil lower right by both artists. We also have an original mixed media painting by Arakawa available, from the early sixties. Both pieces come from the same New York estate.

Two works by Helen Malta of human figures, a watercolor with standing figures facing away from one another, the other with two intense faces side by side, both signed by the artist on paper. The two standing figures measure 12" x 9" and the other is 9 5/8" x 8 1/4". The standing water color also has drawn lines in red, and is signed at the bottom between the figures. the figure on the right holds a bird...

For the fan of clown art, or, the fan of the world famous mime and actor Marcel Marceau, or, the fan of singer and entertainer Eydie Gorme----here is one work of art that ties together all of these things. This is a watercolor, gouache and ink drawing on paper, 23 1/2" by 17 3/4" (30 1/2" by 24 1/2" as framed), signed at lower right "CRIONAS" and dated 1958, the subject the iconic Marceau as his alter ego character, "Bip"...

Contemporary pencil and watercolor drawing in simple metal gold framing, the subject two women apparently dancing in a late 19th century cafe, the drawing 8 1/2" by 5 1/4" inside the mat (the entire sheet significantly larger, at 11 3/4" by 8 1/4"), signed at lower right "Dan" or "Han" or similar. The scene reminds of George Grosz' 1920's drawings of Berlin cafe goers, or even Toulouse Lautrec's Parisian cafe's. The drawing is nicely crafted.

Acquired as one of a number of works by late Bozeman, Montana artist MARION "MAL" LEWIS (1925-2010), this is a fine collage work, undated, titled "Silhouette Collage" on original accompanying sticker, not framed (just matted), likely from late in the artist's life. While traveling through Montana I came upon a group of mostly collage, abstract works by this artist, though there is at least one non-abstract work, a New Mexico drawing, that I will be listing...

A fine mixed media study drawing in charcoal and white gouache of a soldier seemingly leaning against a wagon wheel, 10 1/4" by 7 5/8" inside the present mat (the sheet only very slightly larger), and 22 1/2" by 18 1/2" in gold frame with hand drawn lines), titled "Bataille de l'Alma"on the mat, signed with an impressed/embossed signature "I PILS" at lower right. The drawing features a scene from the Crimean War (1854)...

By the celebrated and increasingly sought-after Wisconsin-associated artist LUCIA STERN (1895-1987), this is a fine modernist collage of actual threads of various colors criss-crossing a painting on canvas that is primarily in silver paint, with painted dots, circles rectangles and other geometric forms completing the composition, which measures 17" by 14" plus attractive narrow blond wood frame (no glass)...

THREE circa 1960's gouache on heavy paper abstract drawings, unframed, each 24" by 18", each signed at lower right "Greene". The works definitely seem to have some age as the reverse side of the paper is brown and vintage. I cannot connect these to any particular artist so offer them as decorative mid-century works. Condition is excellent, with just one edge nick on one drawing. Each is in a protective-only plastic poster box...

Gouache and watercolor on paper drawing, 11" by 8 1/2", in metal framing, no glass, signed at bottom right possibly "LEE" and perhaps a date "41" or "47" after that. The framing was done in the Seattle area (see sticker), and putting the style together with that framing information, I feel that perhaps this might be by an artist working in the Mark Tobey school in the Northwest, but this is speculation. The work certainly resembles Mark Tobey's work in many respects...

John Gannam was an illustrator and painter who worked almost exclusively in watercolor. Gannam was born in the country of Lebanon and grew up in Chicago. He was forced to leave school and work at age 14 due to his father’s death. He went through a succession of menial jobs until he eventually became a messenger boy in an engraving house. Here, he first found a purpose for himself to become an artist like the men who did the layouts, lettering, and drawings from engravings...
