Jules Pascin 1885-1930 French This is an orignal pencil signed lithograph by French artist Jules Pascin, the title is: Le Lever, created and printed 1925, the image measures 10 1/4X7 7/8 inches. catalog Hermin 5. This lithograph is signed lower right, lightly but still visible. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

From a set of lithographs, Paris Dans sa Splenour, published in 1861, titled, “LE NOUVEAU LOUVRE/Vue prise du Palais Tuileries.” The printer and lithographer are shown in details of the lower left and right corners. The image without printing is 9 7/8 by 14 ½ inches (25 x 27 cm), the page 13 ¼ by 19 ¼ inches (34 x 49 cm).

Condition; some rubbing to the surface and some of what look to be ink spots...

An example of the 1913 lithograph "La Mere Chatte" ("The Mother Cat"), 11 3/4" by 9 1/4" inside the mat window, (18 3/4" by 15 1/4"as framed) pencil signed in lower right margin by the important French artist THEOPHILE-ALEXANDRE STEINLEN (1859-1913). Printed in a rich chocolate brown ink, the image appears at first to be of one cat, until one looks more closely, to see an adorable tiny young face emerging behind her in the shadows...

This is an example of the MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985) lithograph "The Tribe of Joseph", from The Jerusalem Windows series of the early 1960's. Measurements are 12 1/2" by 9 3/4", so, this is I believe from a book, and it is much smaller in size than the edition of 150 pencil signed version of the print. It is however a true lithograph and not a dot offset print. I examined this out of the frame (and it is loose under the mat currently, floating)...

The unframed sheet measures 25 1/2" by 19 1/2". The image area is clean and problem-free, though I note significant browning and staining in the margins, the outline of a previous mat clearly visible. Careful framing/mat would minimize most of this...
