The dark outline of the barn, with its modernistic texture and shadows, contrasts with the luminous winter sky. One of Barker's best prints.
Rare original lithograph by Franz Bernheimer (Germany, USA, Israel, 1911-1997). Signed in pencil l.r. and dated 1958. Also numbered No35 in pencil l.l. Bernheimer was born in Germany. He studied art in Munich and Zurich before WWII. He escaped Nazi Germany and emigrated to the USA via Cuba. He taught at Brooklyn College, at Sweet Bryar College, and eventually moved to Israel where he taught at Haifa University.
