This is a work by highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971), titled in pencil "Rockport" at lower left and signed at lower right "TWNason (M.W.N.)". This is a very rare unsigned proof, which does not appear in the Fern & O'Sullivan catalog. We believe this portrait to be of 17th century French artist Jacques Callot, whom Baskin greatly admired and included in his series of etchings, "Portraits of Ten Artists" in 1964.

This one—71-2—is a face rather than a complete figure. Created in 1971, the print is 50 of an edition of 151. It measures 5.75in x 8.5in. The print is in very good condition, with faint tape residue on the two top corners of the back, with no impact on the face.
