A Dutch 17th century etching of a standing horse near a humble abode, 6 3/4" by 7 3/4" (14" by 15 1/2" in 20th century appropriate black frame), unsigned, and with no initials or other indication as to authorship. The work bears old pencil notations on the reverse side of the mat; there appear to be names of potential artists that were pondered by a previous observer in my position (including, it appears, question marks to himself)...

An original pencil signed, numbered (115/135) lithograph of 1972, "Les hommes arrivent du fond de leur passe", 19 1/2" by 26" inside the mat, (28" by 34 1/2" framed), the subject of great interest to collectors of Judaica and Jewish art. Reminiscent of the best work of Marc Chagall, the imagery features a rabbi or holy scholar blowing on the symbolic shofar, or ram's horn, while a Chagallesque figure looks on at lower left. Condition appears to be excellent; not examined out of frame...
After the great world-renowned master MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985), this is the 1972 Galerie Maeght lithograph poster "Artist as Phoenix", issued in an edition of 5000. The print has fresh bright colors, although it is evenly rumpled from age (no creases, just not a flat surface). It can be shipped rolled in a tube (for lower cost shipping than indicated) or with green metal mid-century spring-clip style poster frame (the present shipping quote)...
A PAIR of very clean French artist 19th century etchings, the subject of both upper class women, one by CHARLES WALTNER (1846-1925), the second by ERNEST JOSEPH LAURENT (1859-1929). They are also very nicely (identically) framed in tasteful black and silvery framing, including silk mat and inner fillet; the frames also in excellent condition. The combination of art and quality framing makes for a most handsome decorative addition to your traditional interior...

Original print in black and white, described on paperwork affixed to the backing as a Heliogravure, 10 1/4" by 8 3/4" inside the mat (26" by 22" as framed), not signed or numbered. The popular and familiar image is "Gabrielle et Jean" (after the famous painting of Renoir's wife and son). Heliogravure is described as one of the very earliest photographic etching processes. Apparently in 1919 at the artist's death, heliogravures were made of many of his popular paintings...
An etching on paper, measuring 14 1/2" by 10 1/4" inside the mat (21 1/2" by 16 1/2" as framed), signed in pencil at lower left margin and numbered 29/150 at lower right margin, with a dedication (in the plate) at upper left and date 5 November 1906, by the noted German Jewish artist HERMANN STRUCK (1876-1944). The subject is a bearded man wearing a yarmulke. Struck was born in Berlin of Orthodox Jewish parentage...

Francis Hopkinson Smith, American, 1838-1915, "Bath Abbey". This rare, early 20th C. etching by Francis Hopkinson Smith measures 9 7/8 x 7 1/2 inches, pencil signed and titled. Smith was an author, artist and engineer, writing many books but also known for his atmospheric watercolors and oils. In his early years he is credited with building the foundation for the Statue of Liberty. At the age of 50 he gave up his engineering career and devoted the rest of his life to writing and painting.

This is a landscape work by highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971). The print is signed in pencil at lower right and dated there 1937, when the artist was 48 years old, at mid-career. Nason was a Boston-born artist who by the late 1920's had taught himself the fine art of creating prints in the wood engraving process.
