Sunset, 1914 Frank Benson This is a very rare early etching by American artist Frank Benson, the title of this work is: Sunset, created and printed in 1914, this image is pencil signed and numbered as 25/50. The image measures 8 7/8X7 inches. Nice use of plate tone in the sky and water, some uneven inking as was printed most likely by Benson. This image appears in the Ordeman catalog as image number 26.

The work is numbered 23/25 at lower right margin. The name being common, there are a number of listed artists that might correspond to this. By well listed French artist MAURICE ROMBERG DE VAUCORBEIL (1882-1943), this is a large original 1916 lithograph poster used for propaganda and recruitment. The poster (behind Plexiglas) measures 47 1/2" by 34" (53" by 40" very tastefully framed in dark wood). I have not opened this up to inspect as it is nicely sealed, but the previous owner spent $500 on framing in Beverly Hills, so I would imagine that the mounting and framing was done to professional standards, perhaps even with linen...
