Reminiscent of some Scandinavian pieces from the 1960s, this more modern version of the cattail pin features two freshwater pearls. The stems are gold-filled wires flattened at the top to secure the pearls. The back shows an embossed maker’s mark of a tree in a circle; there is an incised copyright mark with the date 1993 and other hand-markings that include an ST, possibly for sterling (the leaves test as sterling). A contemporary but very attractive Tibetan ewer, crafted of thin, hand-worked sheets of white metal that appear to be some type of nickel/aluminum amalgam, decorated with deep repousse and chasing techniques forming the decorative bands along the shoulder, neck, lid, and upper base of vessel, with well-formed makara shaped spout and handle, all atop a splayed footed base. The front of the necklace falls 10 1/2" (27cm). It's difficult to measure a width, but on the necklace form it measures 7" (18cm) across. The biggest beads are 3/8'" (1.1cm) in diameter. The back of the necklace is adjustable. It has the GA, Giorgio Armani couture logo. Probably from around 1990, it is in pristine condition.
