Erika Hult de Corral, the award-winning modernist Taxco designer who studied in the Parson’s School of Design in Paris and worked with Sigi Pineda and Enrique Ledesma, is one of the few exceptions for which I will cross the 1980 terminus in my jewelry selection. de Corral came into her own in the 1960s and 1970s, a bit later than most of the Taxco maestros, and her creative streak took her well into the 1980s...

A sterling silver pendant necklace set with colorful stones in an oxidized surface, similar to the style of Matilde Poulat. The pendant is decorated with a central cabochon amethyst and roughly set with small turquoise beads and, possibly, coral fragments. Applied wirework wends around the pendant as well as the four drops. The chain is composed of oxidized bow-shaped elements with tire-tread edges, applied wire filaments, and roughly set tiny turquoise beads...

Formed as logs entwined with vines and flowers, these cuff links have a Victorian sensibility, but bear the Krakow assay mark for .800 silver, dated 1986-present. There is an unidentified maker’s mark of ZL. The logs are hollow. The marks have been struck on the smaller anchor bars. The longer sides measure about 1 ¼ inches long and about ¼ inch in diameter. Weight: 6.2 grams total

Fabulous very big bracelet in slightly matte goldtone metal with three strands of thick snake chains and two strands of large decorated matching beads graduating from the center toward each end. Foldover clasp. Circa 1980, unsigned but possibly by Robert Lee Morris, who has designed jewelry for Donna Karan for decades. Great size -- 2 1/8 inches wide and 7 3/4 inches wearable length. 18K. Solid Gold Ring set with very striking Colombian Emerald @ 1.30 ct., 8 square Diamonds @ 0.35 ct. total weight and 34 brilliant Diamonds @ 0.56 ct. total weight

Composed of linked hand-forged curved pieces with an A-shaped pendant decorated with applied sterling beads, this 1980s necklace has a strong presence. Hinged bars make it comfortable to wear and cause it to drape nicely around the neck. It is marked sterling on the back with an engraved initial A, probably the maker’s mark. The necklace has an internal circumference of about 15 inches; the pendant drops about 2 ¼ inches. Weight: 41.2 grams
