It seems that I will be closing the year with modernist pieces by Erika Hult de Corral. I have already presented two of her necklaces in the last few weeks which have already found new caretakers and this evening it is time for a ring. Though rings are not an uncommon form in the world of vintage Mexican silver jewelry, I have to admit that the examples available usually fall on the conservative side of design but from time to time something interesting and eye-catching shows up...

The top is quirkily decorated with pierced geometric shapes, and the cabochon amethyst and citrine are bezel-mounted off-center. The inside of the band is marked 925 for sterling. The ring is 1/16th inch thick; the top of the ring measures just over 1 inch across. It is just over a size 6 ½.

This fashionable engagement ring is centered by a 0.71Ct round faceted natural diamond. The 18kt white gold setting is further decorated by 38 round diamonds. The center diamond that was graded by our in-house gemologist has K color and VVS2 clarity, but it is not certified. The total weight of all diamonds is 0.95Ct. The ring is a size 6 ½ and can easily be sized.

A wide sterling silver band supports a rectangular piece of polished blue and orange art glass. The inside of the sturdy band indicates it is sterling silver and displays the partial mark of Melvin Roman, a contemporary costume jewelry designer. The ring is approximately a size 6. The mounted glass measures 1 ¼ inches long by 1 inch wide by about ¼ inch high.

Very reminiscent of the work Taxco maestro Mateo created in the 1970s and 1980s, this fine, 950 silver Mexican ring is signed by a different, unidentified maker yet its quality and strong presence make it one of the best examples of the form I have seen lately. The sculptural, substantial setting is complemented by the malachite’s rich, vibrant liquidity while the design’s recesses have been oxidized to enhance the sense of depth and dimension...

This ring has a commanding look and is cast with an organic, seaweed-like embossed top design enhanced with oxidation. The ring has a warm patina with light tarnish and is marked 925 for silver content on the outside of the band. It is a size 9 ½. Weight: 14.4 grams
