From northern Canada's Inuit native people, comes this 4" by 2 1/4" by 1 1/2" light greenish soapstone carving of what appears to be a tuskless walrus, weighing 7 ounces. There is the official original label in black and white on the bottom, with "Canada Eskimo Art" and an image of a stylized igloo. These carvings are often signed in syllabics or in English lettering but I do not see any such signature on this piece. There are no chips, nor cracks...

Standing on a gray base wearing a pink t-shirt and yellow shorts, a picnic basket slung across her body, and a sun hat hanging down her back inscribed with one of the revolutionary slogans: 'Wéi rénmín fúwù' which translates as 'Serve the People'. Dates Mid 20th century, circa 1966-1970. Base has maker's stamp. Measures 12.75" high

This is a heavy-for-its size (about six pounds) sculpture in a heavy, dark wood like mahogany (ironwood?), measuring about 10" high by about 5" on a side. In addition to the dark heavy wood, there are carved teeth of bone, and carefully applied white paint detail in the eyes. Carved into the base are the words "Ngambela Mataa". I have googled the term and it seems to be applied to a figure who was in Zambia in the late 19th century to as late as 1928, when there was some murder there...

The subject is a traditional kachina dancer of the Hopi people in full costume. A fine agate snuff bottle of large size the sides carved in relief with various birds on prunus branches. The bottle is very well-hollowed and weighs only 97 grams without the stopper. The foot and mouth both slightly concave. The stopper is grey smoky agate, the spoon is bone. The bottle is fairly large and might have been used as a table bottle. 20th century.

This crown is finely beaded with a bold black face and on the reverse side with vertical lines possibly depicting tribal scars and prominent lips on a white beaded ground, a large bird perched on the top, and birds along the sides, is over cotton cloth backing.

This seated deity wears a loose robe enameled with various multi-color flower heads nestled among profuse scrolling tendrils. His left hand resting on a raised knee, grasping a string of prayer beads (mala) and the other leg folded across, his right hand holding the neck of a cloth bag at his side.

This is a beautiful piece in great condition. Frame measures 18 by 13 12 inches. The plaque raises from the edges and is thick in he middle. It measures about 5 by 9 1/2 inches. Frame might be Mahogany.
