On the shore below the photographer is a man in the stern of a small boat and another boat to the far left with a large expanse of river dividing them from the bathing Ghats lined up on the far bank of the Ganges. The studio stamp for Thomas A. Rust (English, 1841-1904) is on the back. Also, on the back in pencil, “General view of Bathing Ghats Benares.” 8 1/8 x 10 7/8 inches (20.5 x 28 cm)...

A copy of ROBERT GENN IN PRAISE OF PAINTING MERRITT 1981 a self-authored 133 page profusely illustrated art book, published in 1981 by Merritt Publishing of Vancouver, British Columbia. The illustrations are in colour and black and white, and this 12-1/2" x 9" book is in MINT unmarred condition. It also has the original dust jacket in superb condition as well, with only the slightest, barely noticeable edge bumps...

Albumen photograph mounted on grey stock of a shallow pool in the foreground the ruins of some walls and columns in the middle and Vesuvius in the distance. A very well printed image with deep contrasts in tones. The image is from around 1875. 7 9/16 tall by 10 3/16 inches (19.5 x 26 cm). Card 13 by 16 inches (33 x 40.5 cm).

A Charles Hill Canadian Painting in the Thirties art book. A 223 page 12-3/8" x 9-3/4" art reference book by Charles C. Hill entitled CANADIAN PAINTING IN THE THIRTIES. Published by the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa in 1975, this book features six tipped-in colour prints and copious black and white photos and text throughout. The book itself is in super condition, and the included dust jacket is very good, with some minor edge bruising and creasing and one 1" tear...

A nice set of three lovely laquered and stamped silver bar coins, Thailand, c. 16th.-17th. cent. and a Laotian 'Canoe' money bar in silver-bronze, c. 1707-1889 AD.

The Laos Canoe money weighs 113.5 grams and the three Thai silver coins, 58.48 gr., 49,34 gr. and 65.31 gr., so it's probably same issue but different dating, in the 16th.-17th. century.

Two albumen photographs, mounted on opposite sides of a single sheet taken from an album. One photograph is of a mixed group of cricket players, ladies and a dog posing under some trees. Many of the men with their bats. It is titled in ink underneath “Keevil/1881.” Image is approx. 6 1/8 x 8 ¼ inches. The second photo is of a long line of archers and spectators in front of targets, with trees behind and a few men standing forward with their bows...

The earliest known stromatolite fossils are between 3.5 - 2.75 billion years old in the Precambrian period.
