Rare and early vintage albumen print of the Shimbashi Railway Station in Tokyo, with festive decoration and banners wearing the imperial seal "kiku-mon". The Tokyo to Yokohama rail line opened on 14th October 1872, with a great ceremony as the emperor took the first official ride, arriving at Shimbashi Station in a Western carriage. We personally find that blanc de chine is probably the biggest area of fraud, abuse, and mistake by unscrupulous and /or unknowledgeable dealers, and as such it is probably the main area where novice collectors get burnt the most...

Underneath both in pen is the notation, “Sandhurst 1877,” this refers to the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. The polo players is 8 ¼ x 10 ½ inches and the Cricket players 8 3/8 x 10 ¾ inches.

Moroccan stromatolite fossil well preserved in a nice red sandstone believed to be from from Kem Kem beds and date from the cretaceous period .These microbial fossils are one of Earth's earliest records of life. The earliest known stromatolite fossils are between 3.5 - 2.75 billion years old in the Precambrian period. The blue-green algae in these early colonies were important in creating Earth's current oxygen atmosphere. size 6" by 4" and weighs 2 pounds

A miniature size hand written in Latin manuscript page, double sided, measuring 4 1/4" by 3", and 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" nicely framed, likely of religious content. Written neatly in brown ink with red capitals in places, much as would be seen in an antiphonal sheet. Condition of this little item, a survivor at many hundreds of years old, is excellent.
