A very rare wood and pewter bar caraffe or decanter with glass thermos liner and Swiss made musical movement which plays "The Blue Danube" by Johann Strauss. This item was designed by Aldo Tura for Macabo of Milan, Northern Italy, and made circa 1958. We think that Jefferson Glass made these pancake french opalescent coin dot lamps in the 1930's. Previously thought they were made by Fenton, but Fenton's chimney is shaped like a pulled tulip -- not the bulbous shape seen here. This one has a rim-chip on the bottom of its chimney, hidden when sitting on its socket. It is 11" tall and about 8" wide at the base. Original wiring (2-prong plug).

Hocking made Bubble from 1934-65 in various colors. These cups and saucers are in mint condition. 3 are available.

Japanese hand hammered Copper Water Container or Mizusashi for tea ceremony, 6 3/4" high with dark brown lacquered on wood top, 6 1/4" diameter, shape of ancient urn. The condition is good, except little lacquer losses on the side edge of the cover.

A JG Graves Sheffield sterling silver swing-out key pocket watch 1902. This English sterling silver key wind cased pocket watch is by JG Graves of Sheffield, England. Graves (1866-1945) was a watchmaker, entepreneur and benefactor, and this watch is hallmarked for Chester 1902, with the swing-out case having the Graves maker's mark. The watch is 2" across and the works measure 1-9/16" across the plate. They are inscribed J.G. GRAVES SHEFFIELD REVERSING PINION No688375...

 

Exquisite set of Japanese Dairi bina (hina), the emperor and the empress dolls from early to mid Showa period. This is not a large set of dolls. The measurements of the wood box are 17” wide x 12 3/4” tall x 13 1/2” deep. We should add the approximate sizes of dolls. The label indicates that they are from Matsuzaka-ya, a major department store. Matsuzaka-ya started as a kimono store in late 16th century, pre Edo period...

This carved smoky crystal snuff bottle is 2” high, 3” long and 1” thick. It depicts a lucky bat resting on a melon. The crystal has some natural flaws. However, the color is quite even and it has been well hollowed and polished. It has a coral top. This is a mid-20th century product and is in good condition.

This set of 5 porcelain serving bowls is packed in their original paper box. They are a mid-20th century product. The bowls are 2 ¼” high and 4 ½” in diameter. They have blue, green and orange floral and pattern designs inside and outside. There is a maker’s mark “Oyoshi kiln” on the bottoms. They were never used and are in excellent condition.

This carved gold hair (acicular) crystal snuff bottle is 2 ¾” high, 2 ½” wide and 1 5/8” thick. It presents the traditional Chinese three companions of winter: bamboo, pine tree and plum blossoms. The carver carved a bamboo stalk and used it as the body of the bottle. An old pine tree and a plum tree with blossoms are arranged around the bamboo stalk. The top is carved agate. This is a mid-20th century product. It is in great condition.

A Fukagawa porcelain vase showing wisteria vines and flowers, and a yellow bird. The vase is signed with the Fuji Mountain mark. The vase measures about 9 1/2" tall x 4 1/4" in diameter, and dates to the middle of the 20th Century. Condition: The condition is excellent/perfect, Free shipping within the USA.

Tiffin made Twilight for many, many years. It does change color -- icey blue in fluorescent lighting, pastel lavendar in sunlight or incandescent (the old light bulbs). Beautiful Chinese brush washer carved in the form of two peaches , carved from a piece of lovely pale agate with yellow striations, intricate details of curling leaves and tiny bats inside the large peach and on the outside of the small peach, the bottom is carved with more little bats, the brush washer sits on a wooden stand carved in the shape of entwined lotus leaves. Nursery rhyme-themed sterling silver porringer. Made by Tiffany in New York. Round and curved. Handle solid and curvilinear with goose neck mounts. On handle is low-relief depiction of Old King Cole, who has "called for his pipe and called for his bowl." A dense olden-days scene with no room for the "fiddlers three." There's plenty of room for engraving, though. Fully marked including postwar pattern no. 25352. Very good condition.

An elegant sterling silver picture frame with a fluted design featuring a cartouche at the top ready to be engraved. Backed in burgundy velvet, the frame measures 7.25" high x 5" wide. Site size (window opening) is 4.75" X 3.25". In excellent condition, it is marked STERLING in the lower left corner.

Ornate English sterling silver picture frame by Keyford Frames. Featuring a heart-shaped opening with with cherubs at each corner, the frame is hallmarked KFD. Backed in very dark purplish blue velvet, it stands 7.5" high at the highest point x 5.5" wide. The heart-shaped opening will hold a 4" wide x 5.5" high photo. A little wear to the velvet at the bottom, otherwise in excellent condition.

A stunning pair of gold gilt mirror image cloisonné hat stands. Often used as vases, the front of each hat stand features a vase of flowers with a peaceful scene of a man in a boat viewing the horizon. The sides and back have assorted images of Chinese scholar article and Buddhist symbols. Decorative trim work along the top rim and bottom rims, are a nice finishing touch to the enameled background which is a dark rust color with thin gold colored cloisens creating the shape of tiny clouds...

Wooden sculpture of an old man and woman taking a break from the rice harvest. They are sitting on an elevation. He is preparing his pipe, taking tobacco out of his tonkotsu. She is getting out a lunch box and two tea cups, while the tea kettle is at her feet. Behind them a sheaf of rice and two sickles. Perhaps a modern reference to Jo and Uba, the old couple on the island Takasago who symbolize longevity...

Rare "Buddha Asuka (B)" woodblock print by Kiyoshi Saito, 1955, number 40 of only 50 printed, signed in white ink and sealed in red ink both on the image area. Signed and sealed printed label "self-carved self printed" also included (attached to paper backing removed to inspect condition.)
