A woman's shirt front from Baluchistan, mid to 20th century, in a combination of blanket stitch, herringbone and satin stitch on green cotton in a diamond repeat pattern. It measures 30.5 x 47 cm. A dress ("pashk") covered with detailed embroidery is everyday attire for Baluch women. The embroidered diamond repeat pattern is known as "paraiz zarto" in the language of the Baluch. A finely sculpted bust of a young man with exceptional patina of finely blended earth and bronze pigments. Physical condition is superb, but a small amount of finish has worn around the left eye and on the top of the head exposing a green substrate, yet harmonious with the earthen finish. Unusual good size glass ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in ball shape with hollow inside and design of multiple blue and red spirals. Rare technique of thick walled material with hollow inside, superb execution, beautiful colors. Diameter 0.87 inches.
Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with numerous cherry flowers and a crescent moon, silver foil flakes background. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. Chinese carved Ivory Ram's Head clasp, consisting of Ram's Head and oval ring, 2 long 7/8" wide, 3/8" deep-Ram's Head, and 7/8" x 5/8" wide, 1/8" thick-oval ring, made in "Hong Kong" label, imported to US prior to 1980.
