This dress is often known as Shirabyoshi where these were sacred dances offered to the gods. The shirabyoshi figure evokes the Heian and Kamakura aesthetic and the legends contemporary to the era that portray the Shirabyoshi. Work is signed and sealed by an artist named Nanko. A captivating bowl created by Kyoto potter Kawai Zuiho, most likely in the early 70’s. This bowl features a red undercoat which is visible in places through the greenish overglaze. The effect is quite striking and sure to attract the eye. With a convenient indent on the side, this bowl fits comfortably in the hand.

Tsugaru kogin kimono made of vegetable indigo dye hemp whose warps and wefts are hand plied. It is made in Tsugaru region in Aomori prefecture in Tohoku district. Kogin-sashi is one kind of needlework (sashiko), stitches with white cotton yarn go horizontally and make geometrical patterns. It makes the hemp kimono warm with thick kogin in the cold district like Aomori, where it is hard to cultivate cotton. It has thin indigo dye cotton lining and sashiko in the lower body too...

A beautiful Murano glass handkerchief vase, made probably by Barovier & Toso (designer: Ercole Barovier) around 1950. The vase is made up of poly-chrome fused canes on a colorless ground glass. The vase is 4 3/4 inches (12 cm) wide and 3 3/4 inches (9,5 cm) tall. Fine condition. Polished pontil. Unsigned.

Chinese bronze vase Ming-Qing Dynasty unmarked fine quality and heavy for its size , probably 18thc . Something is in the interior like ink stone or something. The vase is in great condition except for a tiny slight dent to the neck as seen in picture. Size 6" by 3"

Colonial sterling silver ale pitcher. Made by Old Newbury Crafters in Newburyport, Mass. Curved bowl with reeded staves; c-scroll handle and sharp v-spout. For serving ye olde fermented refreshment. Fully marked including maker’s and craftsman’s (Fletcher S. Carter) stamps as well as phrase “Boston / Museum of Fine Arts / Reproduction”. Very good condition.
