Very vintage signed Lillian Pines sterling fan pin. A contemporary of Mary Gage, as they both died a year apart from each other in the early mid 90's. While this maker was born in New Hampshire, Mary Gage died in nearby Maine. This fan style is her familiar motif using applied silver balls and curly Qs. Stamped LILLIAN PINES STERLING in back of one of the 1 1/2" fans connected with a 5 1/2 and 6" flat "S" chain. Each has a working safety clasp pinback and weighs a total of 23 Grams...

A very rare 5 panel bride’s noren. The bottom of the curtain has a lovely delicate aqua wash. Traditionally the bride would hang this curtain in the doorway for about 2 weeks after she was married to announce that she was a member of the new family and that she has taken her husband’s family crest. There are a few minor age spots in the cream/off white area, but otherwise the curtain is in excellent condition...

This beautiful shibori (tie-dye) is already cut to make a haori jacket. The skinny pieces under the arms are cut and attached by someone who knows what he is doing. It has not gone through Yunoshi, the process to stretch shibori using steam. The size of this gown is extremely small at this moment because a regular kimono roll (for short kimono) is used to make into shibori fabric. 36 inches x 16 1/2 inches long with 9 inches hemming tacked inside...

A pair of Chinese thinly potted Zhadou with a pale blue glaze covering all over. The base rim unglazed. The base glazed the same with a four character Zhengde mark in underglaze blue surrounded by double circles. On carved wooden bases.

A woman's shift ("kurta") from Swat in vivid pink silk embroidery with green and purple accents on a black cotton background. This kurta has exceptionally fine cross-stitch embroidery at the sleeves, suggesting a link with Indus Kohistan. Indeed, it is not uncommon for embroidered panels for dresses from Indus Kohistan to be found in the markets of Swat (see Nasreen Askari, Colours of the Indus, © 1997)...

Italian Modern fantasy marine sterling silver centerpiece. Ovoid shell with second hemispheric shell set in back on ovoid seabed base. Naturalistic irregularities, striation, and accretions as well as a thriving crustacean community with crabs, snails, and conches not to mention fish and seahorses emmeshed in the kelp and grasses mounted to the back exterior. The creatures are aglow with gilding. Wild and exuberant. Marks include post-1967 maker's stamp for Mazzucato...

Japanese white solid Porcelain Pestle, heavy weight, 9 1/2" long, 2 1/2" diameter-widest part, with glazed solid white porcelain except tip of round grinding area which is unglazed. Wooden five storied pagoda done in the style just as the actual structures appear including the wooden joints and key architectural elements that are conjoined together to create the structure.
