Chinese porcelain vase, ovoid form, with painted over glazed scene of figures including ladies sitting at a table, another lady with flower and a child, signed on bottom with four character mark, mid 20th century.

A framed calligraphy quoting a passage from the Bible, written by famous Christian calligrapher Liu Yiling(1903-1994). The paper is kind of loose inside the frame and there is foxing on it. Baby's yogi which is one kind of bed cloth, a top cover in the shape of kimono. It has cotton cloth with katazome (stencil-resist-dye) for outside and indigo cotton for the lining. It has thick cotton inside for warmth and was used in the cold district or in winter. It is from Fukushima prefecture in Tohoku district. Pair Japanese Cedar Wood Miso Merchant's Storage Tubs, or Barrels, Ca. 1940, 14 1/2" high include cover, 14" diameter top rim, heavy twisted Bamboo ropes wrapped around, lacquered chestnut color outside, Kanji writings for date and shop name on bottom for both barrels, inside is unfinished and shows beautiful aged old wood grains. The condition is good, no damages.
