An exciting example of mid-century Murano color and metal inclusions: cane, latticino, murrine, and aventurine gold are encased in a sumptuous, double scroll modern form. The base glass is clear, with the exterior of the piece marvered in amethyst chips that give the form a nice amethyst shade. The piece is 6.5x7.5x2.5"h, unmarked, in perfect condition

This is a textile of superb workmanship, very typical of Hazara embroidery. The Hazara are the the third largest ethnic group in Afghanistan, residing mainly in the mountainous central provinces of Bamiyan, Ghazni and Orugzan. This child's dress front measures 32.5 x 65 cm. Solidly worked in cross stitch in silk thread, with satin stich on the waistbands, glass beads on the outer edges, and framed by Bokhara couching in metallic thread...

Signed by Suzuki Morihisa (1920–1981), a 14th generation of cast iron-makers from Morioka who later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tokyo. A frequent exhibitor at the Nitten. Interesting Modern Glass vessel depicting a stylized expression of a tree branch covered with abstract crawling critters and a realistic rendering of a glass ladybug. There are similar examples of Memphis style and application technique in Leslie Pina's ITALIAN GLASS. On pages 224-226, there are similar pieces attributed to Andrea Anastasio of Memphis. The vessel is 18.5" tall, in excellent condition, unmarked.
