Japanese plaster and paper mache mask of a Boddhisattva (Bosatsu in Japanese), a Buddhist monk who has reached a high level of enlightenment. The mask has long earlobes, typical of a holy being in Buddhism, green lacquered hair pulled into two buns, and golden lacquer skin with traces of black lacquer. Early 20th century.

Pink, purple and red glazes mingle on the surface of this Mizusashi water jar by Matsuyama Gae enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kujaku-yu Mizusashi and signed inside the lid by the Urasenke Konnichi-an Grand Tea Master, Sen Genshitsu. It is 20.5 cm (8 inches) diameter, 12 cm (5 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

A Chinese painting in scroll form depicting a minority girl with her goat. Painted and signed by famous artist Cheng Duo Duo(1947-,Cheng Shifa's son). The painting was acquired in an antique and art fair in San Francisco in late 1990s. Good condition. Dimensions of the painted area: 44cm X 67.5cm.
Table with double trays serving as a double stand for precious objects,censers or vases. It is constructed from a hard precious wood that resembles rosewood. It is possible that it is Huang-Hualy, a specialist will be able to identify it. The construction is very neat, the joints are perfect, it is a beautiful work of cabinetmaking. I think it is a Chinese piece of furniture from the beginning of the 20th century.

Sakiori coat whose wefts are strips from old vegetable indigo dye cotton cloth and warps are hemp yarn. Wefts are fine strips comparing with other sakiori items. A woman's dress bodice from Afghanistan, hand-embroidered by the Kakarh tribe. The Kakarh are primarily found in Baluchistan, where they still make up the majority of indigenous Pashtuns, but they also reside in the southern districts of Zabul province in Afghanistan as well as eastern Iran. This piece measures 18 x 56 inches (45.7 x 142.2 cm). Black, yellow and red pompoms accentuate the front of the bodice which is embroidered in satin and herringbone stitch...
Pair Japanese carved and hand painted on heavy solid Ivory Mandarin Ducks(couple) with inlaid Mother of Pearl eyes, 3 3/8" high, 4 1/4" x 2" wide each, beautifully detailed carving and painted with water color on Ivory. These couple of Mandarin Ducks are made in Japan during 1950's and sold at Gump's in U.S., still retain the partially torn paper stickers "Made in Japan" on the bottom of the male duck. Embroidered in silk thread in a combination of interlacing, herringbone, long and short stitch, and extremely fine satin stitch, it depicts diamond shape medallions ("paraiz zarto")and arched columns with intricately repeated geometric motifs which are typical of Baluch embroidery. Patinated dark reddish - brown bronze. Vase ornamented with horizontal bands raised in relief and flaring out at the waist and sloping inward to the shoulder. Wood box inscribed on the outside of the lid and signed and sealed on the inside. Vase signed at the bottom: Yasumi. H. 28.5 cm.
