A stand made of a fine piece of heavy, cypress wood emulating a rock. The top with a flat, smooth area on which to place items for contemplation or small ikebana arrangements. H 11 x L 24 cm. Japan or China, most probably from around 1920. Condition: Excellent with a wonderful patina.

This carved ivory okimono of Daikoku is a mid 20th century product. It depicts a smiling Daikoku holding a mallet (Japanese called Uchide no Kozuchi) or a lucky hammer over his head in his left hand. In his right hand, he holds a cloth bag of rice. Daikoku is one of seven gods or immortals in Japanese culture. He represents wealth and fortune. It is 5 ¼” high, 2 ¼” wide and 1 ½” thick. Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print by Hideo Hagiwara (1913-2007) titled "Snowy Day" dated 1959. Limited edition 2/30. Verso marked No.54-2. Image size about 17"V x 10"H (paper size: 17 7/8"V x 11 1/4"H). Very good color and overall condition. There is a small piece of tape remnant at the upper back margin edge verso. A large 20th century tribal intricately carved wooden model of Soul Boat from a Pacific islands. The interior is mounted with three detachable figures of seated warrior ancestors with their heads raised toward the heavens.

Two large mythical guardians of the spirit world hold a boat transporting the souls of the dead to the afterlife. Each side of the boat is carved with two lizards. The boat is bolted to a wooden plinth...

A large, rustic and beautiful flower basket, Hanakago for flower arrangement. Signed Gyokukosai . Madake, smoked bamboo. Technique used: strips of bamboo braided and interwoven together. H 35 x 33 x 30 cm. It comes with a new Otoshi. Japan, around 1950-60. Very good condition.

Pair Rosewood hand carved Wall Bracket, Display Shelf, or hanging Stand, heavy weight yet very delicate Rococo style, 13" high, 14" wide, 7" deep in the center top. The condition is good. I have few smaller sizes, please inquire.

Unusual moss agate. It is carved all around with two scenes. One scene, a sage walks over a bridge. The opposite side the sage walks by a young boy with a horse. It measures 3.25" tall 2.75" wide.

Chinese landscape painting of a mountain pavilion nestled in among twisting pines, a river winds it's way through the rocks creating two waterfalls - one in the upper left of the composition and the other in the lower right below the pavilion, all done black ink on paper, signed Zhao Tsungwu, early to mid 20th century. Provenance: from the estate of the late actor James Coburn. Size of art only: 37 3/4" high x 19 1/4" wide.
