Twelve inch tall Libbey milk pitcher as shown in the 1930 - 32 Libbey Nash catalog as shape K - 527. The 32 ounce capacity pitcher is decorated hooked rose threading and has a plain applied strap handle. The pitcher is signed with the Libbey circle on the polished pontil.

A French Art Deco arched chrome cocktail pick holder with a dozen picks with colorful bakelite finials. The holder is French, but the picks (probably early replacements) are marked “Made in England.” This simple design is somewhat easier to use than some of the other figural pick holders. Wonderful hand-shaped Shino Chawan by great To-en Miyamura, made around 1935, enclosed in its origninally signed and sealed wooden box. Smooth and very aesthetic Shino glaze and a true wabi-sabi aura.

Wonderful Japanese tea bowl RAKU ware. This bowl was made between 1900 and 1940. Excellent condition. It has an exquisite contrast of colours, great form and glazing The potter's mark is in the bottom. RAKU is a light weight ceramic ware with a long history in Japan and particularly prized in the tea ceremony. RAKU means happiness, pleasure, enjoyment, satisfaction. Size: 4.5" X 3.3". Weight: 330gr.

A small delicately enamelled bottle vase painted in 18th Century Qianlong style. The base carries the four character mark of the Qianlong emperor (1736 - 1795) but this item was probably made during the 1930s in the Republic period. Condition - there is an old glued repair to the neck...

Wonderful Japanese figure of the Buddhist deity Bishamonten (Hindu name: Vaisravana), made out of iron. Bishamonten is cheif of the Four Heavenly Kings and is the guardian of the northern direction (in Japan he is one of the Seven Lucky Gods), he holds a small pagoda in one hand symbolizing the divine treasure house, whose contents he both guards and gives away. Signed by the artist: Seiun. circa mid 1930's. Size: 25" high x 12" wide x 9" deep.

A French Art Deco cocktail pick set in the form of a large snail worked in chrome on a mahogany base. The design is by the famed French Art Deco illustrator Benjamin Rabier, who had a side job designing entertaining barware. The twelve picks have red bakelite finials. Cocktail pick holders ("porte-piques") were once a fixture of every French bar and café. Today, they can be use to spear olives of cherries in a cocktail, or to serve small hors d'oeuvres.
