Located at the foot of an active volcano, the Ougaku kiln specializes in a type of pottery know as Sakurajima-yaki. The kiln is headed by Hashino Midori and run entirely by female potters who strive to infuse each piece they produce with the “energy” of the surrounding environment. Pieces such as the one featured here are made from volcanic ash and mineral-rich onsen spring water giving them a unique luster that is difficult to reproduce...

A vintage pierced sterling silver napkin ring c1920s by Roden. Roden was bought out by Birks in 1928. It is stamped STERLING with the Roden company mark. Birks bought all Roden's inventory and parts and molds, and the Roden mark can be seen on some Birks silver items until several decades after. This 1-3/4" across napkin ring is 5/8" wide, and it has (remarkably) never been monogrammed...

This handmade kilim from Maimana shows the medallion design and double interlock designs typical of the kilims from this area, inhabited by Uzbeks, Ersari Turkomen, and other tribal groups. It measures 87 x 127 cm. In excellent condition. Late 20th century. It is made of 100% sheep's wool.

Shonai-obi hand-woven of wash yarn (Japanese handmade paper) for weft and cotton yarn for warp. It is produced in Shonai region in Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku district. It has beautiful tassels in both ends. The dyes are vegetable indigo and brown. In excellent condition. The first half of the 20th century. 25.5cm x 3m52cm

A beautiful early 20th C. Chinese silver pendant a kid ride on a fudog, in excellent condition. Weight: 49.9g W:9cm H:8cm
This red and grayish jadeite has a carved squirrels and grapes design. The pendant is 2 1/8 inches long and 1 3/8 inches wide and carries a fancy 14K gold bale. It is in excellent condition.
