Madrid is a depression glass pattern that was made by Federal Glass Company from 1932 to 1938. Pictured is the amber creamer in perfect condition. I have other pieces in this pattern available - check my other listings or ask!

The creator of this lovely Hagi chawan, Hirose Tanga (b. 1939) is the master-potter of Tenpozan kiln in the city of Hagi. When I acquired this piece I thought it reminded me of bowls produced by Yoshida Shuen (apprenticed under NLT Miwa Kyusetsu). As it turns out, Yoshida worked alongside Hirose in establishing Tenpozan and in training young potters in the art of “oni” Hagi which utilizes a rough textured clay and a milky translucent glaze (like the bowl shown here)...

A collectible vintage sterling silver pounce pot or "sander" shaker desk accessory used for sprinkling fine sand on ink from a fountain pen to absorb the excess and dry it, circa 1950, marked Whiting, Sterling. Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with pink body and twisted ribbons forming a brocade pattern. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. Superbly made piece, in perfect condition. Height 0.65 inches.

An antique Chinese arm chair made of hardwood. The back rest is a carved relief of a tree with a bird and blossoms. A carved bat is hovering over the tree. The arms of the chair are rounded.

Pair of Francis I sterling silver low 3-light candelabra. Made by Reed & Barton in Taunton, Mass. Each: Central socket on bell-form base to which are mounted two leaf- and flower-wrapped scrolled and reeded arms, each terminating in single socket. Arms have threaded plug set in socket on raised foot. Low relief ornament with leaves and fruit and flower clusters. Fluting. Sockets bellied and rims scrolled. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern name, and X5691...

A rare and very finely decorated Chinese porcelain vase depicting a flowering peony shrub painted with fencai/famille rose enamels.

On the base is the iron red four character mark "Shen de tang zhi" -the "Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue" which was located in the Old Summer Palace, the Yuanmingyuan, which was destroyed by European troops in 1860. The mark was used during the Kangxi and Daoguang reigns and also during the Republic period (1912-1948) when we believe this vase was made...

Dentou, or "traditional," kokeshi hail from the northeastern part of Japan known as the Tohoku region. Tohoku is comprised of Aomori, Akita, Yamagata, Iwate, Miyagi, & Fukushima Prefectures...

This purse is worked in a variation of ladder stitch to form repeating whorl and volute motifs on a silk ground. The inside features two pockets lined with purple silk and orange cotton, with the outer edges fringed with blue glass seed beads to protect against the evil eye. The purse measures 14.2 x 25.5 cm and is dated to the early to mid 20th century. Silk thread and metallic couching on silk.

These Wexford stemmed wines/juice were made in 1967-1968 by Anchor Hocking. There are no chips, no cracks and no repairs to these items. They are in excellent condition.

This is a Chinese Export blue and white Canton pattern porcelain pot de creme with cover, circa 1810-1820, having an entwined-strap handle decorated with gilt on blue floral terminals. The porcelain cover has a fruit-sprig knop. Measurements: 3 1/2 in. H; Condition: rim chips, small hairlines, wear to gilt.

Vintage Japanese kiriwood kogo (box for incense during tea ceremony) in a form of an open fan with painted decoration of blooming kikyo-zaki (Japanese morning glory) and other flowers and grasses. Comes with tomobako (original storage box made by the artist) inscribed, signed and stamped with a seal of Munehiro Michiba, Very clever design, in perfect condition. Great piece in Japanese taste.
