Five pieces set of cotton thread wound around the cores of several materials (as bamboo or sort of straw? And, iron-like stuff), unused and stored for long years in deadstock condition (but with some expected stains due to aging), late 20th century, Korea, approx. 13.5-18.0 x H 5.0-6.5cm (5.31-7.08 x 1.96-2.55in)...

Offered is a unique, original drawing by Wilhelm Kage for his celebrated Argenta series for Gustavsberg. This was acquired from a source that knew Kage personally (name protected). This would be a superb complement to the large Argenta urn on the site.

Chinese yellow Beijing glass rectangular container. All four sides carved with lotus blooms.

This man's wedding shawl (known as "malir", or "doshalo") is from Tharparker district in Sindh province and would be a gift from a bride and her family to the groom for his wedding day attire. It is basically an embroidered "ajrak", meaning a red handspun, mordant-dyed, resist-printed cotton, embroidered in the four corners with stylized peacocks symbolizing fertility, and randomly placed mirrors ("shisha") as accents...

DESCRIPTION: An attractive Asian fishing creel, fashioned from woven split bamboo with wood base and neck, and an attached tightly woven string for hanging. A creel is used for carrying fish or blocks of peat moss which function as an evaporative cooler when dipped into a creek, keeping the catch chilled. Exquisite small bowl in Aqua Marine blue and iridescent glass, softly triangular with a swirl. Murano, 1950’s, probably by Alfredo Barbini. Width "4/ 10.5 cm, height "2 ½ / 6 cm. Condition: some wear (cf. pics).

The Chinese excel at modeling horses, and this example is not exception. It is a soapstone carving of a horse running wild, its mane flying in the wind. The greyish-white stone is punctuated with russet tinting. Excellent condition, and mounted on grey-white plinth. Dimension: 8 1/4" l

A watercolor mixed media (some pencil and perhaps gouache) painting of a weathered Native American or other classic male image of the Southwest, signed at lower left "J W Kolstad". The piece measures 10 1/2" by 10 1/2" inside the black mat and 18" by 17" as framed. Reminiscent of some works by Remington or Lon Megargee, this is a very satisfying southwestern piece. Condition is excellent. The date of execution would likely be 1960's or 1970's.
