A finely carved Chinese agate in the form of a popular motif often seen in Tibet which is the windhorse. The use of Tibetan motifs in Chinese arts began during the Ming dynasty with patronage of the Tibetan high lamas and continued onwards into the Qing Dynasty. The windhorse is carrying a pecha or sutra text, a signature motif often found on windhorses. The stylized ribbons and the waves are done in the Chinese style. From an extensive private collection of ivory and bone desk objects, this is a scrimshaw letter opener, by Alaskan Eskimo carvers ca. 1950, made of walrus ivory, with etched fish form handle; the blade etched with a scene of a seal and her pup on an ice floe; signed “F.E.”famous carver Frank Ellanna,of King Island,Alaska. Measurement: length, 7 inches. Condition: excellent.
This beautiful purse, with a single large figure, measures 8 1/4" wide, and 9 3/4" long, plus another 2" for the wonderful 4 color twisted loop fringe.

This is an antique men's silk juban, an undergarment worn under a kimono. For today’s standards, it is very odd to see such an extravagant hidden personal item.
During the Edo period, which ended in 1868, common people were not allowed to wear silk. The growing economical power of merchants came along with social disorder and corruption. Tokugawa government issued many sumptuary laws to limit the spending of the general people on luxury items...
Beautiful, very large hand enameled vase by either Moser or Mont Joye. I'm not sure which, as I have seen vases like this attributed to both makers. This one is quite large - 15 3/4" tall x 6" wide at its widest. It is beautifully enameled with purple and white iris on one side, and all white iris on the other. The glass itself is lightly ribbed vertically, and there is gold iris decoration bordering the top, center and bottom. It is in perfect condition.
