Blowpipes have been used for hunting in some parts of the world, and in Western Flanders blowpipe with darts or arrows was a popular sport for about a hundred years, starting at the beginning of the 19th century. This charming covered jar in translucent yellow glass is topped with an opaque yellow pear with green leaf. Made in the 1890s by Salviati. The body of the jar and lid are ribbed and have a lovely iridescence. The bottom of the base has multi-point pontil marks. It stands 6"high by 4" diameter. A similar fruit-topped lid is shown in Carol Osbourne's "Venetian Glass of the 1890s: Salviati at Stanford University" P. 126, Plate 137.
The piece is in excellent condition.
Very well crafted dish enameled with a Japanese cherry blossom tree, with two brass handles, with marks to the base, late 19th century period. Approx. 11 1/2 by 7 5/8 in., 29.3 by 19.5 cm. No imperfections observed.
Antique cloth doll with center seam face, nice pinched nose, bead eyes with feather stitched eyebrows. She has a tiny red floss stitched mouth. She has leather arms in poor condition but they really look original, long shaped legs and turned feet. Her body is skillfully sewn and is firmly stuffed with cotton. She has a very large derriere that allows her to sit easily. She is made with black sateen fabric. She has a few mends but is in good solid condition. Her dress is sewn and is in shreds...

Square cut old Wood Lamp Finial mounted with brass, fits into regular size of Harp, 1 1/8" high overall, 1" x 3/4" wide and 1" high for wood part, mounted with brass fitting into regular size of Harp. Age scratches on wood, no damage.
Referenced in "The Colors of Murano in the XIX Century" p.128, Item #89, this vessel is typical of designs by Pietro Bigaglia in the mid 1800's. The Glass has the five point pontil mark, indicative of early Venetian Glass, is 3" tall and in excellent condition.
Beautifully carved butter churner guide ("Ghurra' or "neti"), decorated with a relief rope and chevron design. Wood, with fine dark-brown patina. Himalayan Region. Length: 11 1/4" (23,5 cm). The piece is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Obvious signs of use and age, otherwise very good condition. NOTE: the "ghurra" was collected in situ in the early 1970s, during my 20 years stay in Asia.
India 17-18thc Mughal life size stucco palace guard statue once one of a pair that was said to be placed by the door of the rulers private temple . This piece was brought from the Gujarat area of India . This is a rare and irreplaceable sculpture . Size H 59" W 17" D 14" weight, a guess 150 lb losses and some restoration as to be expected . This sculpture is done in the full round but due to the weight we couldn't safely photograph the back.

Gorgeous large vase with a velvety matte finish shading from white to pastel blue. The pattern is diamond quilted design with white lining inside the vase. Circa 1895. Pontil is smooth ground polish. EXCELLENT CONDITION!
