This is a tobacco pouch from Indus Kohistan in Pakistan, probably from Kolai or Palas Valley. Circa mid 20th century. It is embroidered in an extremely fine, solidly worked brick stitch in various colored silk threads on a black cotton background. The outer edges of the bag are embellished with beaded tassles. This is a wonderful vintage Japanese Raku style tea cup of Ohi ware with an amazing amber glaze which was made about 50-60 years ago by Rakusai Ohi. The seal of 'Ohi' is stamped on the bottom. The original wooden box with the signature and the seal of the artist is also included.

Ohi ware has become well known for its use of Ame-gusuri, or amber glaze. Being a Raku style, it was low-fired and is quite light and soft in the hands...

A hand-embroidered Hazara prayer cloth, made to protect the prayer stone, with a stylized depiction of the prayer niche, probably from Ghazni or Bamiyan province, circa mid 20th century. This is a 9 drawer leather chest, that can be used for a number of things, but is perfect as a jewelry chest. It was made by Maitland Smith and is extremely heavy. The drawers are black lacquer on the inside, and brown leather with gold trim on the outside. It is signed on the inside of the top drawer. It measures 42" tall x 10" wide x 11" deep. It is in good condition with some wear to the leather.

A finely done Japanese bamboo basket used as a flower container made by the second Shochikusai. The handle is done in a way as if the vine appears to grow out from the basket and fine strips of bamboo are woven throughout the vase. Fine woven bamboo baskets require the highest skills to create the rhythmic geometric patterns and form. Age: Showa Period Size: length 10" width 6.5" height 18.75"

Very large sculpture of a seagull in flight skimming over a wave on the ocean.

The Seagull is done in clear glass, with a hazy, white, layered internal decoration. The wave is a smoky clear glass. The two pieces are epoxied together, as is the case when two pieces had to be made separately, and annealed first, due to the design not being able to be joined when hot.

The piece measures 20 inches (51 cm) tall by 20 inches (51 cm) wide and is 8 inches (20 cm) deep.

The fabric is fine cotton, solidly worked in brick and satin stitch in silk thread, the colors alternating between green and orange, pink, blue and purple. It measures 3 1/4 inches x 31 inches (8 cm x 78.5 cm) and is probably from either Ghazni, Jaghori or Nawur areas of Ghazni province, or else from Daykundi and Dayzangi in the province of Orugzan. This model is a faithful representation of the American privateer ship built in New York at the beginning of the 19th century. The model is of exceptional quality.
