Circa 1980, Philippines woven reed and bamboo storage basket crafted by the Ifugao people of the Luzon Cordillera range in the Philippines. Known for their craftsmanship in basketry both Ifugao men and women engage in basket making. Created for everyday use, head baskets like this were used in the fields to collect rice or sweet potatoes and then to store, keeping perishables dry. In excellent condition, it measures 13.5" square by 6" high.

Japanese early 20th century earthenware vase by SUIGETSU. The vase has 2 crabs done in high relief on the side. This type of ceramics was originated by artist Yoshikawa Tsunekata during the Meiji Period. The vase comes with TOMOBAKO, or original artist signed wooden storage box. The vase measures 6 1/4" tall by 8" in diameter.

This lovely sterling brush has a marquise-shaped porcelain insert with a blue and white Dutch windmill scene. It was manufactured by the Alvin Manufacturing Company of Providence, Rhode Island. This company, currently a division of Gorham, was founded in 1886 and was known for its sterling flatware, hollow ware, toilet ware, and novelties. The brush bears two marks for the company along with STERLING, 250 C, and Pat app for. Pre 1920

Satsuki was from Kyoto, the most famous pupil of Tomioka Tessai, early C20. This painting is beautifully painted with black and plum colours, perfectly combining strength and delicacy in the technique and in the subject matter. In Japanese culture as in Chinese, plum blossom symbolizes strength and nobility of character. Good condition, some creases, with original signed box. Size: L: 199cm W 42cm.

Old Japanese Kanzashi comb and hairpin set with lovely prunus and birds on a tortoiseshell. Late Edo to Meiji. One hairline shown in the last photo is very minor. We had more than one occasion that we had difficult times locating it. The comb is 3 1/4" x 1 5/16"; hairpin is 6 1/4" long and 11/16" wide at the ends.
