An envelope-shaped purse from Jaghori area of Ghazni province, Afghanistan, circa 1930. The silk embroidery is very dense, combining satin stitches with brick stitches into an alternating geometric pattern of zigzags and diamonds. This carved ivory okimono of Daikoku is a mid 20th century product. It depicts a smiling Daikoku holding a mallet (Japanese called Uchide no Kozuchi) or a lucky hammer over his head in his left hand. Rare antique Vallerysthal caramel milk glass elephant with rider lidded box or covered dish. This dish in this colour is considered to be one of the rarest. There are no markings that I can see.

Japanese brocaded Silk Obi, small silver repeated leaves on double thickness and double sided soft silk, 20" wide, 96" long, very little small spots of stain, otherwise the condition is good.

This beautiful vase was produced by the Consolidated Glass Company as part of the Martele line. Designed by Reuben Haley, the pattern is called Katydid and was produced in the late 1920's. The vase is 7 inches high and the color is a dark sepia brown ceramic wash over crystal. Excellent condition, see my other listings for more Consolidated Glass.

Old helmet mask, of typical form, with three faces surmounted by an elaborate coiffe. Wood, with fine age patina. Africa, Sierra Leone, Mende ethnic group. Height: 16 cm. Diameter: 17 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Obvious signs of use and age, otherwise very good condition.

This beautiful contemporary Ningyo is by an important artist, Nishikitsuka Moeharu. His Kimikomi style of work has been exhibited in many galleries and museums, including the Homma Museum in Japan. She is holding peach sprays. Carved of wood with applied silks brocades. She has a sensitively rendered face with carved lacquered hair adorned with a gold hair ornament. 9 inches (23cm) high. Base: 10.5 x 8.25 inches, 27 x 21 cm.

Stunning heavy solid red resin Chinese child with straw hat reding a book white sitting on top of a resting water buffalo. Great detail. There is a baby water buffalo near to it's mother. It is intended to give aesthetic pleasure and an expression of good wishes to the beholder concerning the recipients longevity 8" wide x 4.5" deep x 6.25" tall

Haku Maki did the months of the year in hiragana, not in Chinese characters which are also used for months in Japan. July しちがつ is an A.P. and measures 13.75in W x 5.75in H. An embossed print, it is in good condition. See August below.
