Wonderful Japanese figure of the Buddhist deity Bishamonten (Hindu name: Vaisravana), made out of iron. Bishamonten is cheif of the Four Heavenly Kings and is the guardian of the northern direction (in Japan he is one of the Seven Lucky Gods), he holds a small pagoda in one hand symbolizing the divine treasure house, whose contents he both guards and gives away. This is an attractive vintage Japanese Cloisonne vase. It is much like another piece we currently have listed but of higher quality. It may be from Ando. The wireless enamel work on the mountain and clouds is very good. Except in the foreground, the enamel colors are soft pastel tones of gray/blue. It just under 7 inches tall and 5 inches wide. There is a minor dent to bottom rim that can not be seen when on display. otherwise the condition is outstanding.

A Hazara puttee estimated to date from the mid to late 20th century, in perfect condition. Measures 10x65 cm (with the tassel, 124 cm in length). Condition is excellent. On one side is a printed fabric, probably from Russia. The extremely fine brick stitch in interlocking diamond patterns is a hallmark of Hazara embroidery. Probably from Jaghori (Ghazni) or Bamiyan province.

This is a graceful 10.5" pear shaped vase bearing the seal of Ando Jubei. Enameled an unusual lush shade of plum/brown with a cream accent, it is decorated with silver wire flowers that appear gold against the dark ground. The bottom rim is marked "silver", the counter-enamel is dusty plum.

A set of eight sterling silver gilt demitasse spoons by David Andersen with white enamel guilloche. Measure 3 7/8" long. Marked on the backs David-Andersen Norway Sterling. Measuring 13 1/2 x 19 1/4 inches this textile from Maqur district in Ghazni province is embroidered in silk thread on a fine linen background. The textile was intended to be made into a man or a woman's shirt. There is only one small brown stain, otherwise its condition is nearly perfect. Estimated age: mid 20th century. The embroidery technique is an extremely detailed ladder stitch.

Chinese small carved jade ink stone and brush washer in one piece. The ink stone side is carved with a leaning pine tree and mist. Turned on its reverse side, it functions as a brush washer. The sides are incised with a key fret motif.

Documented in Leslie Pinas book "20th Century Italian Glass", pg. 174, this asymmetrical plate is constructed from gathers of crystal and opalino glass, augmented with green chips and copper aventurine which are manipulated with a tool to achieve the "starry nights" design. The loose, organic form is notable. Measuring 11.5"w x 9.5"d x 2"h, this fine piece of Murano glass is in good condition, with expected wear on the base consistent with its vintage.
