An exquisite old Japanese hair comb, lacquered on wood (kiri, boxwood?), practical yet ornamental with make design of wisteria like flowers. It is almost like new, never been used condition. The shape of this comb is unusual, irregular from one side to the other side. The shape is called Shin-bashi shape/style. Shinbashi is located in Minato-ku in Tokyo. The shape came out in early Showa period (end of 1928 to beginning of 1986). 4 1/2"

Vintage Chinese scholar’s buffalo horn seal of square section with crisply carved characters on the base and traces of red seal paste in the grooves. A Chinese famille-verte enamelled porcelain brushpot, with multiple warriers on horse and feet. Scenes separated by a band around the pot with a ruyi head top border and a wave bottom border. The inside and base glazed white, the rim left unglazed. No markings.

French Majolica plate by Cerenne, Vallauris, 1950's. Relief moulded and brightly painted decoration of sea food, the animals forming reserves for six oysters. Charles René Roger Neveux ("Cerenne" = CRN) was the leader of one of the most popular ceramic studios in Vallauris. Diameter "10/ 25,5 cm. Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase. Showa period, circa 1930-1950. The body of the vase is red with a pink chrysanthemum amongst white peonies with a green orchid. The red color, known as akasuke, is difficult to produce. Only the most skilled artisans can create the rich ruby red color and the transparent element where the motif on the vase shows through the glaze. Excellent condition, no scratches or dents. Manufacturer's stamp on the base. It measures 8.5" tall, 2.5" opening, base 2.75" base....

This rare and early example of the superb pottery of Ingrid and Erich Triller (TOBO) measures 9 3/4" tall and is 4 1/5" in diameter. On the underside of the foot is painted Triller Tobo. The incredible glaze is a complex of browns and oranges. Excellent condition. There is a very minor glaze eruption (done in manufacture) on the inside of the upper rim, which does not detract at all from the beauty and importance of this great vase. (See photos).
