Measuring 27 x 29 cm, this embroidery from Afghanistan is composed of mostly satin stitch in silk thread. The continuous supplementary-weft technique makes this textile reversible and either face may be used as the front. Condition: Excellent, no stains, no flaws of any kind.

Here is a whimsical piece of folk art, possibly depicting an Australian Cassowary. A plastic coconut shell serves as the body, the feathered tail and headdress are accented by a furry brown material while the spindly neck and legs made from sticks. Unsigned.

Wonderful 1960’s sterling silver concho belt by a very fine Navajo silversmith of N.P, c. 1950s-60s.

Unusally large and heavy plus very ornate with particularly fine select large torquise stones mounted on 12 Conches and the massive buckle.

The belt measure 130 cm. length and weighs 932 grams, almost a kilo. Probably the largest we've seen for sale and the high weight must be due to the larger size of the Conchos and buckle.

Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga woodblock print titled "Yakushi Temple at Hino” by Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1991) dated 1961. The print is pencil signed at the bottom margin. The artist's black ink signature and red seal is at the lower right corner of the image. The small rectangular "Shiro hanga" seal is in the lower left margin below the penciled edition number of 38. Offered is this pair of Le Verre Francais (Schneider), French cameo glass vases, made around 1920. The vases are 7 1/4 inches (18,5 cm) and 7 inches (18 cm) tall respectively - as in most hand-made items, there is a slight variation in sizes. Both are signed with etched signatures. Except for a chip in the foot of one vase (see last picture), both vases are in good condition.

Terrific Gorham silverplate figural shot glass in the form of an early American leather fire bucket. The front side is enameled with the emblem of the Chicago Fire Department surrounded with the words “Little Giant Engine Co. 1871”. The back side is modeled to show the leather handle. The bottom is marked “Gorham EP YC3098 CAP 3oz.” Origin: America, ca. 1955. Condition: excellent, no dings, minute wear to enamel on word "Fire Dept". Size: 2-3/4” tall.

A Danish stoneware jar by Per Linneman Schmidt for Palshus, 1960's. Cylindrical, the interior glazed in a speckled grey and brown, the exterior with a dark brown glaze, leaving some stripes and the horizontal border unglazed. Diameter "5¾/ 14,5 cm, height "3¼/ 8 cm. Incised marks Palshus, Denmark, PLS, 403 and painted D. Condition: fine.

Pair of antique Chinese flower ball dishes with various balls spaced over a white ground. These dishes have scalloped rims edged in gilt. The underside of each dish carries three bats in iron red. The glazed white base holds a shop mark in iron red enclosed in a single iron red border.

Makanai which is a kimono worn at home after work in the Nanbu region, where is the east part of Aomori prefecture. It is made of hemp cloth whose wefts and warps are hand-plied and lightly vegetable indigo dyed. The lining is machine-spun cotton. It has very fine sashiko with indigo dye cotton yarn. In good condition but has light stains in front as well as in the back. The last image is from the book "Michinoku-no-Kohu-no-Sekai" by Tanaka Chuzaburo. This wallet from Afghanistan measures 15.5 x 31.5 cm and is embroidered in silk thread on a pink satin ground. The embroidery technique is an intricately worked ladder stitch, with button hole stitches and corded silk tassels for closure. The purse is from Katawaz, in Ghazni province, with two interior pockets. Condition is excellent, estimated age mid to late 20th century.
