The Hazara embroidery of central Afghanistan is extremely fine, worked typically in brick stitch in diamond motifs surrounded by hooked diamonds. This purse was probably used to store a precious object such as the soil or holy stone brought from the holy city of Kerbala. This purse measures 13 x 22.5 cm when open, 9.6 x 13 cm when closed. Silk thread embroidered in brick stitch on cotton. Condition is excellent, and its estimated age is mid to late 20th century.

Measuring 6 inches x 8 inches (20.5 cm x 14.5 cm) including the beaded fringes, this dazzling purse is from Bamiyan and is probably dated to 1940 or slightly later. Fratelli Toso Millefiori Paperweight, 6 Green canne centered ruffled Latimo and raspberry florets surrounding a central ruffled floret of the same design on a gold foil or aventurine ground. Measures 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide by 2 1/2 inches (6.3 cm) tall. Remnants of blue and silver foil Toso label. Condition is excellent with no scratches or bruises. Circa 1950 - 1960.

This little wooden box is a fantasy delight to hold your most often worn rings and other jewels. It has a leather-look surface embossed with a gryffon rampant on top. The edges and all sides are ornately patterned. It as a lock, but the key has disappeared into the mists of time. There are some minor scuffs on surface. The box is 4¼” x 3½” x 2¼” in size. The age unknown, best guess is midcentury.

Rare woman’s skirt (pukhang) from the Kachin/Jingpo ethnic group, Northeast Burma. This is two panels with supplementary weft trim on the ends made of dog hair. Mostly natural dye and indigo. It is quite a durable weave with denim like feel. There is some staining, one small hole as well as a bit of dye bleeding. I could only find examples this in “Textiles of the Hill Tribes of Burma”: Michael C. Howard (plate 107) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Accession Number: 2002.312...

Flapper necklace, a sautoir (Fr. sauter = to throw) made up of black seed beads and an 18 carat gold tube with Swedish hallmarks and year mark for 1925. Length "67/ 170 cm. A Dance Mask Topeng representing Rumyang. Cirebon West Java. This mask is one of the five characters in Babakan solo dances. Each portrays an individual character. Rumyang represents a prince in his early adulthood. He is sanguine and his moves are quick and passionate. Some wear `height`; 7 3/4" (19.5 cm)

A creamware dinner plate with shaped edge, elaborate painted lattice border on the rim and good “Chinese scene” decoration to the body of the plate. Though it is unmarked it is almost certainly English from the late18th century. The color is deep cobalt blue and the execution very good. 10 inch (25.5 cm) diameter.

This vintage Pashtun beaded purse from the mid 20th century is embroidered in an extremely fine ladder stitch in silk thread on a dark purple polyester ground. The thread colors are mustard, violet and kiwi green. The purse is embellished with tiny blue seed beads on the edges which is a traditional feature of Pashtun embroideries. It is lined with red cotton fabric in the interior. Condition is excellent. Dimensions are 11.5 x 12 cm closed, 11 x 22 cm when open.

This is a really nice depression glass green Floral and Diamond Band 8 inch high flat water pitcher made by U. S. Glass from 1927 to 1931.
