French Majolica knife rests from the 1950s, a pair. Handmade, unsigned but likely from Vallauris, the foremost ceramic centre in postwar France, also favoured by artists like Picasso. Length c."4/ 10 cm. Condition: a small glaze flake to the tip of the tail of one dove (cf. pic 3 and 4).

Three metal martini glasses stamped on the bottom "MADE IN/HSIANG YUN CO./HANKOW." Hankow (Hankou) is part of the present day city of Wuhan. In the early 20th century the city contained five foreign concessions.

Possibly paktong or another base metal with a resemblance to silver, though it is considerably harder. 4 ¾ inches (12 cm) tall.

Condition: Made in two parts, one glass is slightly loose where the stem meets the bowl. Another has a low spot at the seam in the bowl...

A decorative black lacquer box by the Ryukyu Lacquer Ware Company, c 1920. The inside red, the knobbed lid with a carved lacquer banana plant - flowers, fruit and leaves - in colours. Stamped company mark. Diameter "3¾/ 9,7 cm. Condition: small nick to the rim of box and lid (cf. picture).

Hex Optic is one of the earlier depression patterns. It was made by Jeannette Glass from 1928 to 1932 and used extensively in their kitchenware lines. Offered here is the ice bucket in green in excellent condition. This version has the pour spout so that a reamer can be inserted and the bucket serves double duty. it comes with the original metal handle & serving tongs. Cotton kimono with geometric pattern. The weaving technique is "Kobai-ori" which is woven with thick and thin yarn loosely so that it is translucent. In excellent condition. Mid 20th century. 142cm x 124cm

This vintage purse from Afghanistan is worked in a variation of ladder stitch and Bukhara couching to form repeating whorl and volute motifs. Silk and metallic thread are embroidered on a green polyester ground. The purse feature two inside pockets lined with red printed cotton, with the outer edges fringed with blue glass seed beads to protect against the evil eye. It measures 10.5 x 14 cm when closed, 13.8 x 25 cm when opened and dates to the mid or late 20th century.

Beaded Block was produced by Imperial Glass Company from 1927 to about 1930. Pieces in this pattern are difficult to find and eagerly scooped up by collectors when they do surface. This desirable pattern glass pitcher was made by the Mosser Glass Company of Ohio which used hand pressing to create its beautiful high quality glass. This beaded shell pattern is especially nice with its whited rim and foot. The quatrefoil foot is scalloped holding the body whose stippled walls frame the finely shaped Deco style fan shell in high relief. The rim is also scalloped with lovely undulating ebbs and tides...

These two rare Morgantown Princess optic amber wine stems are little pieces of fine art glass. Each whisper-thin crystal clear Princess optic bowl is mold blown and hand finished. The amber, almost root beer color stems, are pulled from the base of the bowl and given a twist before being attached to the broad flat foot. The optic blown crystal is so shiny and thin - like a wisp - that I had a hard time capturing the optic details... each has a nice ring...

Nice old Karen woven bamboo lacquered box from the Thai/Burma border region, this has a few old repairs but overall good condtion. Circa 40 to 60 years old. D: 13.25cm/.2in and H: 8.53cm/33in.

Pepper and salt set, probably 1960's, marked Made in England. When put together the two halves form a white sphere, when apart they display a printed decoration in black of two stylized lions, the design in the manner of Richard Guyatt. Height "3 ¼/ 8 cm. Condition: fine.

Very nice piece of Chinese hardstone fruit. The leaves are a translucent green jade with the persimmon being rose quartz. There are two small legs in the back for positioning and stability. In excellent condition, it measures as displayed 4" across.

Interesting early Deco gilt metal pendant of Chinese shape. The front with an enameled motif of a lady with Chinese hairstyle busy with needlework in front of a smoking scenser, all within a keyfret border. The back with a cracked ice border surrounding a willow tree and ducks in a pond. Probably French, around 1920. Width "1 ½ / 3.7 cm. Condition: fine, except for a darker spot to the back, visible from a certain angle (cf. last photo).

A hand-embroidered Turkman Yomut nomad's skullcap from Herat dated to the early to mid 20th century. Exceptionally fine ladder stitch combined with satin stitch and couching in silk thread. Condition is very good, just some tiny stains. Diameter: 18 cm, circumference 48.5 (approx. 19 inches).

Cork stopper still in place, stamped inscription: Henkes Delfshaven Holland. Henkes was a Dutch gin/genever producer. Height including cork "3¾/ 9,5 cm. Condition: fine.

A small bronze figure of a penguin by Walter Bosse and Herta Baller, Vienna, c 1950, unsigned. This model, with neck feathers, does not seem to be among the later reproduced miniatures. Nice patina. Height "2/ 5,5 cm. Condition: fine.

A set of four fans (uchiwa) made of bamboo and washi (Japanese hand-made paper). Each has hand-painted pictures and signs such as three kabuki "kumadori" which is special makeup of the kabuki player and Otahuku. American needlework sampler I would date to about 1935-1950, hand embroidered in traditional style, silk thread on cotton, the imagery of a house and tree, the sweet message being "Here let us live Life at its Best/ Here my we find/ Comfort and Rest". No glass, good vintage condition, some faint old very light brownish staining to background.

This beautiful Tiffin whisper-thin, blown glass compote features medallions or cameos of dancing nudes with scarves. The cameos are acid etched and show satin glass as the background. It measures 6 1/2" across the cut and finished rim and stands 2 3/4" high. This bright beauty is in excellent condition. I have other Tiffin and elegant glass in my inventory... take a peek. Dancing Nymph is the correct name for this Consolidated pattern - it's sometimes called "Dance of the Nudes" due to listings in depression glass books under that name. Made in 1928, it's a wonderful pattern for the deco collector as well as glass lovers. This is the footed sherbet in crystal. Perfect condition. I have 3 available, price is per sherbet. This figural glass lamp was produced by L.E. Smith Company during the 1940's - 50's. The color was fired on over clear glass, giving the opaque finish. This style is referred to as the 'Southern Belle' lamp. I have 2 available. Both have been re-wired so they work fine. The shade clips on the light bulb. (Bulb not included, I recommend 25 or 40 watt bulbs so the glass doesn't get too hot.) Please specify which you'd like. All are in good shape.

5 Japanese Noritake Peony flowering tree design deep wide soup bowls or dishes, 8 1/2" diameter, 2 1/2" high, marked "Tremont, US design Pat. applied for" and Noritake China, Japan" on the bottom. The condition is good.

Unusual vintage Japanese glass scholar’s brush rest with transparent body and beautiful white and blue stripes in the core. Very well made, in great condition except for a few small chipped areas as seen on photos, very pleasant to handle. Length 3.42 inches.

This vintage Turkmen Tekke child's bib or collar is hand-embroidered in silk thread with cotton tassels. Shoulder to shoulder measures 19" and the front is 9 1/2" with a 3" fringe. The reverse is a printed cotton fabric and the embroidery technique features the traditional gul-i-badam ("almond flower") motif which is generally found only on Turkmen embroideries from Afghanistan. Condition is excellent and its estimated age is late 20th century.

Save 10% today... This beautiful vaseline and cobalt wine stem is quite eye-catching. The goblet size bowl features an incredibly vibrant vaseline color with hints of green. It is blown, rib optic glass with subtle curves extending to the cut and finished rim. The stem is a deep, royal cobalt blue with a twist, attached to the blown and finished foot, and the yellow bowls. It stands 6 1/4" tall is in excellent, unused condition. I have searched to find the maker, but no luck so far...

A small beaker vase by Danish designer Just Andersen (1884-1943). Of flaring form, the simplicity of the shape accentuated by stripes near mouth and foot-rim. Marks: Just, GAB (a Swedish company for which Just Andersen worked from c 1930), model number 1162 and 1931 for the year. Height "2/ 5 cm. Condition: fine.

Early Showa period (1930s) Japanese kogo (box for incense during tea ceremony) of turned wood, top and bottom are lacquered with concentric circles of different colors.
