Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with pink body and twisted ribbons forming a brocade pattern. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. Superbly made piece, in perfect condition. Height 0.65 inches.

Black swirls on background of burnt orange glass form this letter holder from a desk set series produced by Salviati in the late 1970's. This carved dark hair crystal snuff bottle is a 1970’~1980”s product. It is 3 ¾” high, 1 3/8” wide and 1” thick. It is carved as a bamboo stalk with small branches and leaves around it. There are two dragonflies resting on the stalk. It has an agate cap. It is very well hollowed and it is in great condition.

This vintage 1940's hand hammered, hand forged 980 sterling silver bowl was designed & signed by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). This is a lady's purse from Bamiyan, Afghanistan, finely embroidered in silk thread. The Hazara excel in making very intricate geometric design embroideries executed in brick stitch. This purse has also some chain stitch and couching stich ("basma") on the reverse, which features three separate pockets. Condition is good with some staining on the front consistent with its age (mid to late 20th century). The purse measures 10.9 x 23.6 cm.

It has been awhile since Hakata dolls have become one of the popular collector's items in Japan. Hakata doll was originated by a roof tile maker in the early 17C during the construction of Fukuoka castle. Hakata is located on the Kyushu island (southern island), famous to other porcelain makers such as Satsuma, Imari, Nabeshima and Hirado. This is a very impressive Noh dancer doll from their collection. The dimensions: 13 1/2"w x 14 1/4"h.

A magnificent 9 ½ inch tall Quezal vase with green and gold pulled feather decoration on an opal ground. The vase is in excellent condition and is signed “Quezal A776" on the polished pontil. The bulbous vase is 6 inches in diameter and the top rim measures 3 3/4 inches across.

This very well carved ivory erotic netsuke of two couples is 2 5/8” long, 1” high and a little less than one inch thick. It is dated to the 1960’s. There is a carver’s signature on the bottom.

Finely crafted, detailed serpentine jade carving of a male figure in standing position, holding a fan with the left hand, comes with a wood base, 4.5 inches in height, condition consistent with age without any issues.

Wonderful kneeling female Agere Ifa Figure from the Yoruba People made of wood and pigment, carrying a bowl. The figure has good age and shows much handling.

Such figures could well have been used in the divination process among the Yoruba called Ifa. Cowry shells, cola nuts, may have been kept in the bowl being carried by the woman...
