An unusual three piece late 19th century silverplated carving set by Simpson, Hall and Miller. This set has silverplated handles in the form of deer antlers rather than real antlers; it consists of the 16-1/4" carving knife (blade marked SIMPSON, HALL, MILLER & CO. SHEAR STEEL. WALLINGFORD, CT.), the 14-3/8" smooth sided sharpening steel, and the 12-5/8" carving fork. This is a fine grayish lavender opaline vase. Circa 1900. It is 7 1/4" tall by 3 3/4" wide. The inside diameter of the mouth opening is 3" while the collar is only 1 3/4" in diameter.
There are no chips, no cracks and no repairs to this item. This item is in excellent condition. The gold decoration is worn.

A charming two-sided silk stitched purse depicting a suitor weaving flowers into his beloved's hair, with the reverse side showing a bouquet of flowers. The frame and chain are magnificent, with facet and slice cut pastes and faux pearls; purse is slightly soiled, but could be cleaned; 7 1/2" wide by 7" long
This large, brilliant, cut glass pitcher, measures 11" tall x 5 1/4" diameter on the bottom. I am not an expert on cut glass, but I know a good piece when I see it, and this is one of them. Although I cannot find a signature, I'm sure the pattern will be identifiable to an expert who knows their patterns. There are a couple of very minor flakes at the top, otherwise in perfect condition.

Tang Dynasty Red Terracotta Tomb offering Figure, white slip remains and the head reattached . Size H 8"
Skillfully sculpted in the late 1800's, this exquisite leaf compote is shrouded in a generous coating of gold aventurine. The leaf portion is very thin and masterfully executed freehand. The stem is hollow, and it and the foot are blown into a rib mold and are hot worked into a spiral pattern. At around age 120, the leaf compote is in perfect condition. Measuring 3.5"x6"x6.5"h., the piece is unmarked.
