These "Liberty Blue" bread and butter plates are 5 7/8" in diameter. They have a blue and white floral rim with a scene of Monticello in the center. They are in excellent condition.

Tiffin made Twilight for many, many years. It does change color -- icey blue in fluorescent lighting, pastel lavendar in sunlight or incandescent (the old light bulbs). This compote is made from Duncan & Miller's Canterbury mold. Made in the 1960-70's. It is in mint condition and stands 5.25" tall and about 7" at its widest. Two beautiful and very thinly potted bowls by Sven Hofverberg in his experimental studio in south Sweden. One gold glazed to the interior, the other with an iridescent interior glaze in red and dark blue. The exterior of both with incised striations. The incisions of the smaller bowl are iridescent. This covered dish was produced in Hungary by Herend between 1950 and 1970. It measures 4 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches high. The porcelain is finely pierced or reticulated. The handle and roses on the lid are applied. The dish is hand painted in brilliant colors and amply gilded. It would be used as a pot-pourri dispenser. Beautiful lobed Kutani yaki dish in Yoshidaya style, modern. Decoration of camellia in white, aubergine, green, speckled yellow and gilt. The back with a character in gilt, possibly Qiu, meaning Autumn. It is also defined by Graesse in his classical work about pottery and porcelain marks as from the village of Shinomine in Arita. This set of 8 porcelain tea cups, saucers and dessert plates was produced in Germany at the renowned Nymphenburg factory. They are dated from 1958 through 1978. Most of the pieces have the dates on the bottom. The plates measure 7 inches in diameter, the saucers are 5 inches in diameter and the cups are 2 inches high. The rims of each piece are crimped and scalloped. All are hand painted, with no two pieces exactly the same...

I visited the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC a little more than a year ago and saw some really creative ceramics with leather incorporated into the composition among related, sculptural works. A hand-carved wood statuette of a man, approximately 11" high, 3" wide, the wood possible oak but not definitively determined. The creator did not sign the piece. Age is also unknown though mid 20th century is likely. Could be American or maybe European.

A lovely Christmas bouquet paperweight by Perthshire. The weight features a colorful bouquet of holly leaves, a red poinsettia and mistletoe surrounded by ring of red, white and green complex canes, all against an opaque snow white ground. The base is embedded with a signature/date cane. The paperweight is finished with 5/1 faceting.

These four Minton Gold Ancestral dessert plates (#S 595) are quite handsome indeed. Each are marked on the back and also each has the Minton imprint. The brown-red transfer decoration of flowers and leaves is painted with turquoise and pink enamel to accent the flowers. Each plate is trimmed in gold and is in excellent condition.
